What's the general consensus on those two shows? Didn't see these mentioned as part of any predictions list.

I’m very pleased with an 87 pick. I was convinced it was going to be 72.

I suppose they know now the subscriptions are always going to sell out so are taking more routes.

Also are we moving away from full shows and going down the curated route now?

EDIT: also, potentially 2 Esau’s in 1 year? Just as I thought 2020 couldn’t get any crazier

There goes my theory of paying homage to Dick for #36. Who would have thought we’d get 2 80’s picks in a row...not me. Don’t know much about 87 other than the Giants Stadium show and the MSG show from 30 trips. Both really good so my hopes are high.

One big - very - underwhelmed shrug here. Hope it is misplaced.

Does this mean we'll get 2 90s picks for next year?

If this improves on the already circulating Ultramatrix recordings that circulate these are going to sound incredible. Of course I'm always hoping for the not-yet--circulated-in-killer-quality releases. We definitely got that in spades with the Miami 74 shows earlier this year though...

Something special? This is what he was referring to? I guess I have a different definition of the word special. I'm sure his email and social media are blowing up today. I'm not going to pile on but this seems pretty selfish.

I saw them March 1, 2 and 3, 1987 and none of those shows were good at all. But then I saw them again on May 2 and 3 and they were much, much better. Let's hope.

For me this is the weakest year of the series, but I got 2 shows from 71 in the retail releases so I'll live.

I just looked up the setlists ,and a few things about each show in the comments on archive dot org, and... this looks like it could be really good! wonder if it's on three cds or four (would be interesting to see how its split). I love that 'desolation row' is on there, too. Wish there was a 'shakedown' but you can't have everything..

3/27 looks more interesting than 3/26. Not too thrilled with another later 80s show but we'll see.

I thought we were being pranked until I saw the cover. I must admit I'm not a fan of 1987 in general. I haven't listened to them in years, but my notes on these shows indicate they're typical for the year with some fun sections. Maybe they'll surprise me like the '84 show did.

After buying almost all of them, I think I've finally reached the saturation point with GD releases. While it's enjoyable, I'm not giving the '84 show repeated listens. Same with this year's '77 show. Same with the '76 box. I have no interest in paying $30 each for the '71 shows that are being released with the 50th anniversary sets. I'm going to think very seriously whether to spend $100 on a subscription next year, or to buy something else instead.

I get that you are disappointed, but how is this "selfish," exactly?

I think its because these were Dave's first shows he attended in person so when he said this release was "special", he meant to him personally. Not special in the general sense.

Would both these show's really fit on 3 CDs? Maybe it'll be one full show and one full second set?

Interesting. I've only got 2 '87 shows at the moment, so this will all be new to me.
