Some guy was trolling Lemieux on Twitter yesterday saying how he doesn't agree with his picks. Sounds like he's made about so many pre-80s releases. Anybody see that troll? Does anybody agree with that?

Gotta admit how ridiculous I found that when we just got this killer '73 show.

I finally got finished listening to DP38. I'm probably one of the last to weigh in, and most everything I'd want to say has already been said, so I'll spare you a lengthy review....however, I'll say this: I don't know if it was the mix, my state of mind, or both, but Bob's playing really got my attention, and he was almost always up to the task. Great listen overall

Edit: I'm ok with some late 80's releases in the rotation, if for no other reason than to prevent setlist fatigue.

It was the mix. I also just finished listening to it, and agree that it was a treat to hear Bobby a little more clearly than usual.

There's much of historical interest here: the first Let It Grow, the first full Weather Report Suite, the first Let Me Sing Your Blues Away (terrible harmonies, but I found it charming anyway), the third-to-last Bird Song of the 70s.

I'm not sure I heard what some others heard in Tennessee Jed. Has anyone mentioned El Paso? Jerry's tremendously fun to listen to.

Hard to choose between the 9/7 Eyes and the version from 9/8. Thankfully no one's making me.

Outside of this thread most online discussions of the Dead I’ve been part of has a heavy pro Brent slant.

The next Box set doesn’t always have to be from a tour. Dave opened the door for multi-year venue box sets.

Could do a 87, 88, 89, 90 tour box with one show from each year from Boston, MSG or Philly for example. Or pick any 80s era tours.

Or like @Crispy Rob mentioned, I’d be in for a ‘89 Fall tour box with the multis.

A Greek mega-box with all the shows there except the '68 one (released on 30 Trips) would be fantastic. Or a Frost mega-box, but overall, I'd prefer Greek, and no post-60s Greek shows have ever been released, although one track, Stuck Inside of Mobile from 7/16/88, made it onto Postcards of the Hanging.

Most of my real life Deadhead friends are super pro-Brent. Too young to have seen him live even.

My desired box sets off the top of my head that don't involve taking already released material:
    1968 (anything)
    1969 - Ark Box
1970 - anything (but it seems like there isn't much left)
1972 - BCT in Aug or Fox Box in Oct, really anything from Summer/Fall that's release worthy
1973 - Feb/March shows, RFK in June, Horns Box from Sept, anything from Oct through Dec
1974 - anything, but like 1970 there isn't much left
1977 - March Winterland Shows, the April/early May shows
    1978 - Winter Chicago Shows, April/May
    1980 - Alaska Shows
    1982 - August shows, 10/9 and 10/10
    1985 - Summer
1989-1991 - Any series of runs that's unreleased, Fall 89 would be great, as would a Garden run from 91.

    All I want is 6/28/85 or 6/30/85 as a Dave's Pick or a summer 85 box set.

I attended the entire Boston 91 run and it is absolutely box-worthy, their last great run IMO. 85 box would be sweet too, the bigger the better.

Me, too. Quite. I think Jerry's the main vocal offender, have to listen again....

A primal box from 1968 could generate serious fan interest. Especially since so few shows have been officially released.

They could release a compilation box of 6-10 shows where complete soundboard recordings do no exist. That would probably be a fun box to compile.

    Excellent choice. Failing that - 1971 or even '68. Hell, I'd LOVE a pre-'69 box of a bunch of '66 - '68 shows.
