That is a good pick, I'd be for it. The whole tour was just 7 shows, although they released one in full already on 30 Trips, and released parts of the London run on Dick's Picks 7.
Right. Dijon 9/18 is a bit of a one-off outlier. Fab show, mind. And prolly my fave of 30Ts. I would love to see this tour represented and released as a box sometime in the rosy future. Dare i say, it has a very similar pull as......say an exclusively PNW box might have.
Ahhh. The GoGD retail release future. An enchanted forest wonderland. Who wants to live to see it? "Fat monitors."
Yeah, of course and I understand that. I’m just jealous. I also have become a bit jaded on the big boxset concept after being quite excited about it in the past. They are never in pristine condition when they arrive (a hippo appears to have sat on my Floyd Early Years box, every single sleeve of the Dylan live ‘66 box is crushed in the same place, bent corners on most of the McCartney archive books, Doors Felt Forum outer box ripped apart somehow, etc) and when the boxes and booklets get crushed, ripped or squashed, the benefit of having the object (the visual, I suppose) is substantially reduced. I actually do enjoy these things but when they never seem to make it here still looking like they were supposed to, I start to wonder if it is worth it. I am very keen on the digital download alternative these days but tend to make an exception for Dead releases, although all but one of my Dick’s Picks are FLAC purchases and I bought the ‘78 box as the hi-res...only to buy the boxset as well soon afterwards because I love the artwork and knew it was a smaller box. As it happens, I think the packaging and aesthete (and music) of the ‘78 box are just about perfect.
In regards to E74: A box set of the 11th, 20th, and 21st, with a curated bonus disc from the 14th would be swell.
You could be right. I texted my friend last night night and asked him if he remembered if the rate was locked in and he couldn't remember. So I might be totally wrong. I might have been confusing the pre-order price, in that if it drops they will transfer the lower price. I don't see how the rate could jump that much in the next few months regardless.
I think the packaging of these box sets is kind of ridiculous, but I want them to sell out so the value of mine will go up.
Ark box is next, I can almost guarantee it, and I don't have to tell you what that box will look like.
Just ordered the CD box, as well as the 2013 May 1977 box which had flown under my radar. It's gonna be a Dead Summer!
Is the May '77 box still available? It's better than GSTL, in my opinion! (I know, most of you will not agree).
I'd love to have this disc, but all that music won't fit on one 80-minute CD. So I guess they should just release it as a FLAC download (a single, uninterrupted track, of course) for ... I dunno... $10?
May 1977 is sold out. I got it on amazon. This is the 2013 box, not the Get Shown the Light box, which is also May, 1977. EDIT: I see you already know that...
