To illustrate how variable movie art can be for the same movie, I exclusively sold rare VHS on ebay for 10 years and this boring bad movie had one of the worst covers I had ever seen.

The others for the movie are pretty interesting though:

    WTF!

"Beethoven" and "Mrs Doubtfire" are horror movies. "E.T." has a Michael Jackson cameo, and it includes the "Alien" too.

Furthermore, that "Beethoven" poster would've been alright for "Cujo" :D

Five faves (some of which have already been posted, and listed here in no particular order):

Star Wars (1977) - one of the first I remember seeing and liking "in real time" (that goes for the film too!):

Octopussy (1983) - maybe not the "best" Bond poster, but it's got most of those classic elements there:

Jaws (1975) - I agree with others that this may well be the greatest movie poster of all time:

Attack of the 50 Ft. Woman (1958) - puerile, but then that could easily be said for most of these:

The Little Mermaid (1989) - well, this is actually the first VHS cover, and might be more, er..."frameable" than any official poster:

That Little Mermaid poster sure had me standing in attention. Of course it does have one boner that wood easily have been junked if quality control hadn't petered out. But instead some ballsy prick dicked around with his drawing tool, Disney came down hard on him, gave him the shaft and he is no longer a member anymore.

That is the most juvenile thing I have written in years.

    There's a certain other iconic movie poster that would like a word with you on that assertion ;);

Did you know that there is a bunch of film posters announcing (made up) movies featured in Seinfeld?

Pre-production poster for the film that would eventually be titled Seven Faces (1929). Owen Davis Jr was ultimately not cast in the film; his role would be played by Russell Gleason. Seven Faces, alas, is lost.

Another pre-production poster for a Muni vehicle, this time a biopic of Rasputin. The Holy Devil was never made.
