A Great new record store opened in Seattle in Fremont this weekend- RJ is an acquaintance of mine- he had worked at Jive Time for many years and has branched out on his own with Daybreak Records- the place is loaded with cool vintage LP's and 45's of all genres- the interior is beautiful with a sophisticated industrial chic vibe...

Interesting. I think Jive Time is one of the best curated stores in Seattle. Small but very clean records for the most part. Yes they have gotten a bit pricier but hey, they are serving along with their Antiques store section across the street. RJ is a great guy. Alway says if there is a problem with a record, just bring it back. I will definitely check out his new spot!

Daybreak now has a phone #
    (206) 268-0702

I stopped in yesterday and RJ said he had a great first week of sales and is seeking to buy more vinyl--
The focus of the store will be quality used vinyl with a very selective section of interesting new vinyl planned for the future

This is a nice location, and taking over a disused storefront (I can't remember what used to be there, if anything) is great for the neighborhood. Also, there are at least three coffee places within easy walking distance - I always like to wind down with a coffee after record shopping - and then there's Paseo and a bunch of other restaurants too.

I thought prices were very fair, I looked up my purchases on Discogs and most were at the median or below. Most everything I bought was at least VG+, as well. YMMV, of course (didn't have a chance to look through the budget rock records).

As a long time Jive Time customer, I can say that RJ is fantastic to deal with. Very excited for him and I'll definitely be dropping by his new spot. Having Paseo across the street is dangerous!

Is the store on Wallingford (next to Dick's Burgers) still there?

There was Second Time Around on University, but I believe that's long gone.

  11. Yeah golden oldies or something is still next to Dicks
