Can we take a head count? How many readers here have the album that Clint is holding, on vinyl? I have, so that's one.
I don't think Elvis is at home here but... [/QUOTE] He is at home...July 4, 1956 - Elvis and Barbara Hearn - 1034 Audubon Dr. - Memphis. I believe I've read he's playing his girlfriend the acetates of the tracks he just recorded in NYC. Don't Be Cruel, Hound Dog and Anyway You Want Me. I hope she said she liked them, his expression looks like he's looking for some reaction.
Sorry, I gotta disagree. This is 100% pure internet gold. I so recommend everyone take a minute to watch this. Spectacularly surreal are just soooo good. Yes, Tom is someone I had a modest appreciation for when I was much younger and can certainly grate. Make sure you get to the stereo part at the end... hell don't miss a minute of this.
An idilic picture from the gatefold of Tir Na Nog's fine second album A Tear And A Smile. Unfortunately the the album title reminds me of Kirk Van Houten's Can I Borrow A Feeling.
Norah Jones' Leben amp. ♡ Swoon. I'm sorry I couldn't see what speakers she had -- bet they were DeVores, if I had to bet ... A lot of these systems, particularly the older ones, have Teac 3340 4-track decks ... demonstrating that the systems were as much about making demos (i.e., working) as just listening. And some are pretty motley ... cool, hifi kit (Mac) mixed in with modest tables and cheap speakers, for example. Systems acquired in an absentminded fashion. Henry Rollins' stuff is a serious outlier, for a musician ...
Eddie Vedder during his recent interview with Howard Stern. Clearly see a B&W speaker towards the left of Eddie and what appears to be McIntosh under the turntable on the right side. Turntable might be a Linn? Howard asks if the records under the seat beach is his entire collection. Eddie's response is it's only stuff he brought down to listen to at the moment. Indicates his entire collection is about 30 times that size. Mentions he's got about six Fugazi albums, Alice Cooper, and a Fleetwood Mac album he and his wife listen to together in that short stack. They don't discuss the playback gear but a little about the guitars... The black bass guitar was Rick Danko's from the Last Waltz. Here's a YouTube link for parts of the interview if anyone is interested.
