He is, his only hit single was Walk On The Wild Side.

So by definition he is a one hit wonder, and I say that as someone who owns two copies of Metal Machine Music!

Not where I come from. He's had hits with Dirty Boulevard, Satellite of Love, Soul Man and he wrote and sang on Perfect Day which was a huge no. 1 hit .

I think being a number one song or in the top ten is a hit.
    Is that too complicated?

Not sure what to tell you, Hendrix appeared on the US Top 40 only once. Appearing on the top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100 is my definition of a hit. This was the basis for the Casey Kasem’s weekly Top 40 radio show that is considered the standard.

Generally I would agree with you but it also depends on your definition of "hit". He had a song called Canned Ham that got to number 26 in the Canadian charts in 1970. I always remember because it was the first song I ever heard in Canada.

First one to come to mind - Sunshine by Jonathan Edwards, his only charted hit in the US, went to #4 (ah, 1971!):

Interestingly, VKTRS was seemingly a hit everywhere except in the U.S. According to Billboard it only reached #40.
