I had both 45s tomorrow was not a hit.
I bought it because of the hit

One hit wonder in the U.S. "Voodoo Chile" was not even released a single, so I'm hard pressed to see how it was a #1 hit.

"In The Billboard Book of One-Hit Wonders, music journalist Wayne Jancik defines a one-hit wonder as 'an act that has won a position on [the] national, pop, Top 40 record chart just once.'" I'll stick with this objective, empirical definition rather than "I remember them playing this song a lot on MTV" or "My cousin said this song was massive in Tulsa!"

It's incredibly easy to find this information on Wikipedia, so I'd die happy if people did three seconds of research rather than blindly presenting faulty memories as fact.

I suppose this thread depends on a person's definition of another hit. Is it top 10, top 20, top 40 or just charting? Is it U.S, U.K or worldwide?

    Tomorrow was the second 45
Only close to being classified as hit because people purchased the first hit.
    I purchased the 45

People talk about songs being hits because they reached the top 40
Many of those songs were purchased because the previous hit.
Played once and put on the shelf
I'm talking mostly about the 60s

Now we're getting into the letter vs. the spirit of one-hit wonders. What song still gets airplay, and who but a chart anorak cares about "Without Love?" At least with Sugarloaf, both Top 20 hits still get significant airplay decades later.

Dunno. Never heard of Donna Lewis. But this thread is about one hit wonders, not two hit wonders.

Tomorrow was #23 on Bilboard. By most any definition, that is technically a "hit." Whether or not people listened to it repeatedly or not, it sold a lot of copies.

Not a one hit wonder. "Don't Call Us, We'll Call You," US #9, 1974.

Not a one hit wonder. "Rock the Night," "Superstitious," "Carrie," "I'll Cry for You" and "The Final Countdown 2000" were all US or UK Top 40 hits.

I just looked up the Hendrix discography and never realized that none of his big hits in the UK charted in the same way in US.

Why not make it the top 50 or 100?
Let me know what Wikipedia says.

So they have one hit and then people "wonder" where they went?

Shaine - 'Dreamtown', made #26 in Ireland in 1991
Half-decent song, they never released an album and had no other chart action
