    9 personal unheralded preferences...

1.Grateful Dead / Bertha...the closest to pure rocknroll rhythm the Dead ever recorded (other than cover songs)

2.Clash / Brand New Caddilac...the sole rockabilly track from London Calling with a X Ray solo from Mick Jones

3.Buddy Holly / Think It Over...brilliant hook from the Texas & rocknroll legend

4.Stooges / Loose...the sound of white urban street thugs on the "loose"

5.Velvets / Foggy Notion...relentless from beggining to end

6.New York Dolls / Jet Boy...chaos personified guitarist Johnny Thunders sends this up to the 3rd bardo indeed

7.Doors / Roadhouse Blues...the hardest rock the band ever laid down & featuring guitar great Lonnie Mack on bass it catches on fire & burns up everything in its path

8.Pere Ubu / Final Solution...Peter Laughners guitar sets this apart from all other punk & post punk records

9.Black Sabbath / Into The Void...this is on of Iommi's heaviest & best hooks

I’m shocked to see that so many have not included Iron Man...
All you have to do is hear one note and you know what song it is.

It depends what I am listening to at the moment .

This week after buying Motörheads reissue ( vinyl edition) of ‘Overkill’ (and hearing it for the first time, I was only familiar with ace of spades) it’s choc full of classic rock riffs , no class, overkill, pay the price,,, etc. It’s a brilliant rock and roll record

I could throw in loads of Sabbath riffs but instead will go with Zappa - Muffin Man.

The great riff on that album was "Never Been Sold Before". Thanks for mentioning Deep Purple - Burn.
