By three album run, I mean three consecutive albums by a band that you believe are fantastic. It can be at any point in their career, but it just has to be three albums, one after the other.

My Choice will have to be Modest Mouse:

This is a Long Drive for Someone with Nothing to Think About
The Lonesome Crowded West (One of my all-time favorite albums)
    The Moon and Antarctica

Each album different from the last, but still amazing.

This is a Long Drive with the more raw Indie Rock sounds, Lonesome Crowded West with its slight tinges of Americana and lyrics about the paving of the west and American consumerism, and Moon and Antarctica's atmospheric and technical vibe throughout.

This has been done more than once before, but in the interest of cooperation, I'll offer the following.

    King Crimson:
    1. Larks' Tongues in Aspic
    2. Starless and Bible Black
    3. Red
That said, their live material associated with this material (which is prodigious) annihilates all of that. It's time to drop the term "album" and embrace the term "release." Just my opinion. Well, unless one really means "album."

Stones: Beggars, Bleed, Sticky. They built the rest of their career on this. Especially if you count the non-album singles.

    Horace Silver Quintet(+):
    Song For My Father
    Cape Verdun Blues
    Jody Grind

Three years, three albums by a working band (plus ringers on parts of the 2nd & 3rd) at the height of Horace's fame and powers, catchy tunes, inventive and stylish playing.
