You should try to message one and find out.
I find i get better results on a one-to-one basis if I’m curious as to why a post of mine has been zapped.

I tried that once before and got no explanation.

Anyway, I finally figured out which post, which was an innocent question, but having answered my question by searching the internet instead of seeking answers here, I can see why it might have been thought problematic.

Car Seat Headrest. Hockey. American Football. These are stupid, terrible band names for undoubtedly terrible bands.

On the other hand, I was disappointed that "Rainbow Kitten Surprise" also sounded like boring generic indie music, and not like, super colorful happy speed metal or something.

I presume people know the origin of the name "Toad the Wet Sprocket", so although it's a very silly name I can understand why they chose it.

I would have guessed Lord of The Rings... looked it up just now... and since it is from Monty Python I am now more likely to listen to them!

I agree in general, but Frankie Goes To Hollywood is an exception. Stupid name, good band.

What do people think of the name of the Australian 1990s band "You Am I"? All opinions, positive and negative, are welcome.

I can never make up my mind. It is of course ungrammatical, and therefore meaningless - but it does make one stop and think "What's going on here?". Sounds like a good title for a science fiction story about a mindswap.

The band were one of the biggest Aussie acts of the 1990s. I find most of their songs forgettable, though they did have one classic, "Purple Sneakers".

I'm surprised I never heard of an actual band naming themselves after this fictitious band from The Hitchhiker's Guide To the Galaxy:

An excellent name for a heavy rock band, I would have thought!

    Or a "shoegaze psych" band!

So I went to check out The New Pornographers after reading these comments two days ago... and yes, turns out they're a great power pop rock band (and no, I never avoided them because of their name, I just never got around to checking them out before...)

I've listened to this song at least 20 times in the last two days... and learned how to play it on guitar.

I saw Thirwell at the Bamboo Club for my 25th birthday! His band names may be suspect and inflammatory but his music and soundscapes are riveting and wildly creative.

I knew some guys who wanted me to draw a logo for them. They were called Srekcuf. When they mentioned the name to people they felt obliged to say, "It's ****ERS backwards". They thought people didn't respond because they didn't get it - not because they just thought it was stupid.

How do you know when it is “virtue signaling” or actually what they practice, in truth?

An act I'd have never considered going to see are Before Breakfast. Probably the most rubbish name for a band on the planet.

However, I was wandering around the Tramlines Festival just as they took to the stage. Just a three-piece, a wonderful ethereal sound akin to some of Kate Bush's work. Checked my program to find they were called Before Breakfast. I'm glad I hadn't known that before I saw them. Wouldn't have made they effort.

Throbbing Gristle would have been at the top of my list until recently, when I heard "Godstar" by Psychic TV and had to investigate this P-Orridge character further. That's when I encountered the wonder that is 20 Jazz Funk Greats--best album title ever! :D

This band name has already been mentioned and discussed at length in the thread.

I'm not saying that to criticise you for mentioning them, just thought you might find it interesting to read the info about the name.
