Yes I can understand, especially the first three - a bit gratuitous almost. But Teenage Jesus And The Jerks was a good name, surely, or does that make you cringe too?
I very nearly steered clear of The Bambi Molesters, but then I remembered Bambi is a cartoon caricature of a young deer and I thought, well, okay it's a metaphor.. .. so I went ahead and gave them a listen. Turns out they're a slaughterhouse neo-surf guitar instro band that totally earned my respect as musicians. On the other hand, I've never heard any of GG Allin's recordings. Not even sick curiosity makes me want to go there.
I first heard of Allin's stage "show", if you can even call it that - his depraved, sick criminal acts in front of an audience - then I chanced to see him on some talk show, the kind like Jerry Springer or whatever, geared to shock and horrify the studio and television audience. I didn't even know who he was at first, I just thought he was some filthy ******* spouting venom of the most disgusting variety. After hearing him talk, I realised the guy needed to be locked up and heavily sedated. A total menace to society. May the poor soul rest in peace.
Never heard of him. Doesn't sound as though I was missing much. But to clarify, did he actually make music recordings, or is there a band that named themselves after him?
How about band's with demonic names or title imagery. Ok I checked out Lucifer's Friend and was bemused.
He made records since 1980. All his discography is disposable and useless except maybe his first album "Always was is and always shall be", this one is melodic punk-pop, nothing remarkable but listenable at least
I am not aware of any band that calls themselves GG Allin. Only the man calling himself GG Allin performed under that name, to the best of my knowledge. There are supposedly recordings which he made with his band, most likely were self-produced and self-released. But who really knows (?)
Did I mention "Throwing Muses"? What the f..k this means? A dwarf tossing kind of sport but with Zeus daughters?
You're thinking of Crash Test Dummies. (who were much better and more interesting than their name would sugggest)
There is a Perth band called Simone and Garfunkle. Had I never heard them, I would avoid them on the assumption that they were some kind of joke band whose shtick was spoofing the well known American 1960s folk/pop duo. In fact their songs are quite decent listenable indie pop, and as far as I know are all original.
