The Mizmor wasn't too bad. That's a whole lot of video indulgence served up there, Mike. I wish Oranssi Pazuzu was coming a little bit closer as I won't be able to travel far during the Fall.
Thank you my friend. I was actually in mid-post when I read your message and I knew you were correct. I had gotten away. Also, because I feel correctly humbled... Not a health thing?
The Abbath is very good, but I feel the new Immortal wins by a nose. The guitar sound on is grittier. The Abbath is too slick, but it still rages.
Promising SWARN - Black Flame Order, by SWARN Aug 2 Mikael addresses (July 13): "For us, at this stage with In Cauda Venenum, heaviness isn't guitars tuned down with screaming vocals over the top. That's not necessarily what I call ‘heavy' music these days. I can listen to Korn and say, 'Okay, that's heavy.' But it doesn't really mean anything to me. I mean, I catch up on things in magazines or online. I read about bands that have the 'heaviest record ever,' and I'm not too impressed by that. Okay, it's cool but what does it say? What does it mean? It's an impossible mission, to be the heaviest. That's been done before. Over time, I got tired of that tag. Of course, when I was younger, it meant everything to me. I was always on the pursuit for heaviness in my youth, trying to find the next level of heaviness. First it was death metal, then it was bands like Meshuggah, but heaviness is now more about emotions, heavy chord progressions, music that has feelings. Heaviness doesn't mean Meshuggah anymore, although indeed they're a ****ing heavy band. I'm not trying to tap into that anymore." OPETH's Mikael Åkerfeldt Discusses What Being "Heavy" Means To Him In 2019 "What's he ever done for me? Except let him terrify me every goddamned day of his life 'til the idea of bowel regularity is a forlorn ****in' hope." E.B. Farnum In related humorous-ities Dude Who Tried To Swim Back Into A SLAYER Show After Being Ejected Immortalized on Beer Can "I was a little inebriated, not like fall-down drunk or nothing, but I was feeling pretty good," LaRocque admitted. "I was just like headbanging and moshing around a little bit." For reference, map and photo of the Toronto Bud stage.
More heavy hitting from Australia and I dig it. I like the lighting in the video as well. I'd been wondering when some brutality would happen to cross my path that I liked. Looking for it seemed doomed to frustration. The Decaying Light, by Disentomb June 12
Monday morning blues, I'll use the flashing lights to induce a seizure as I wonder what bra size for the bassist.
Full stop! Reverse engines! I'm really getting into this Disentomb. Only 2 minutes, this the album intro track, but a good preview. Brutal melodic dissonance? Sure, why not.
Yeah man, crazy. I saw Decibel magazine had a 25% off sale so thought I better get it. I just backed away quietly.
I wonder if this is the same idiot who tried to uproot my seat when Slayer opened for Judas Priest show years ago....same venue. Slayer fans are an interesting bunch.
Another track out for the Tomb Mold album. This has to be the last tease as the album is unleashed this Friday. And it does feel like a tease, like one mouthful of a succulent steak and the dish is pulled away. Based on the three tracks avail via preorder the DR is a disappointing 5. Oh well... Marking the calendar for this meditative coupling of Death and Doom from Italy. Some gorgeous reverb drenched chords are unloosed after 5:00. I like that price of €3.33 EUR too. Self-titled (Death/Doom Metal), by ESOGENESI (Italy) Oct 4
Their last album was bricked like that too. The label says they used a dedicated master for the vinyl. I thought the LP was marginally better than the FLACs I got from BC. That was a straight DR4, so I guess they improved a tiny bit for this one. Wish these types of bands would release the more dynamic vinyl master files digitally. I'd even pay extra for them to get some reasonable dynamic range.
Kind of reminds be of Ahab, the doomers from Deutschland, but this band is pleasantly tougher--and less nautically focused.
