Now this is an energetic, old style rock video from Noctem's second album in 2011. It still has Metalcore bits in it but the superb guitar from start to finish makes up for it.
That the singing on this song released today sounds like Robert Smith of The Cure just makes me all the more curious. After 4:00
Saw a 4.5/5 at Angry Metal Guy for this The Drowning - The Radiant Dark Review and Album Premiere | Angry Metal Guy The funny thing is I was listening to it a few days prior, even saved the link to a song, but never liked it quite enough to post. Not post-worthy . I could be dead wrong. Don't mind if I am but I looked again at the review and in the comments was "This is far, far inferior than "Mirror Reaper" or "Tempest" by Lycus. Actually is pretty average and boring..." So I had to check out this Lycus. The third of three songs this picks up enough after 4:00 and is compelling enough I'll be spending time with their two albums. 2013
I've had those 2 Lycus albums in my bandcamp wishlist forever. I really need to get around to pulling the trigger at some point. Pipe cleaner arms goes thru Nov releases
He covered them up with the long sleeves! That Banger shirt looks good but it'll cost $20 a month to get it. BangerTV is creating the biggest, strongest global metal community. | Patreon I'dd add it to the ever growing list of things $20 a month I'd like but I decline like a couple of sports channels and magazine subscriptions. My wallet is doing the Oliver Twist, looking up at me and saying "Please, Sir, I want some more.." Anywho, I'm on a kick for raucous Black Metal. Many months ago I was head over heels over Dissonant Death Metal and now it's for the lean and mean black. Noctem's new one is doing it as is the new Darkened Nocturn Slaughtercult. Now turning to the two albums by Asagraum 2017 and 2019. Song #1 off the new album is promising enough to proceed. Dawn of Infinite Fire, by Asagraum Grrrrrls
Asagraum are a bore. Schammasch is out though. I didn't have time to hear the last track but two tracks stood out on a single listen. #2 Ego Sum Omega, by Schammasch #8 Katabasis, by Schammasch
An extra groovy video from Blood Incantation ahead of next week's album. Pretty stinkin' good. “Slave Species of the Gods” was filmed at our performance in Santa Ana on October 11th during our tour with Immolation. Directed and edited by Gabe Gomez, who first filmed us on our very first tour, the video for this song evokes the disorienting, chaotic and psychedelic vibe of our live concert. Filmed directly onto VHS, the video contains an aesthetic similar to many of our favorite old recordings of classic bands while also being engagingly trippy. The song itself was the second song written for "Hidden History of the Human Race" and has been played live since the Decibel tour. Being the first track on the record, “Slave Species of the Gods” is meant as a full force brutalizer, going non-stop over the course of its relatively short five minutes and thirty-one seconds."

Picked off Angry Metal Guy, henceforth abbreviated to AMG, this band Second to Sun got a 4/5 and I do like them. I spotted the Emperor shirt in the second vid and it is fitting, vocally. They look like kids but have seven albums. Or maybe everyone not old looks like a kid to me. Yes it's a sad, sad situation. Notably their 2019 and 2018 albums have standard and instrumental only versions. With old school hair drying.

Presently held captive by Hideous Divinity. Tech-Death usually pushes me away as it's often just relentless but here the fluctuating pace makes HD far more tolerable. Every song has slower minutes within and the effect of the contrast is a sense of grace. It's still 70% brutal and fast and like falling into a fast river it's best to not fight the current but instead go with it until you can reach shore diagonally.
The drums on the new Nile are insane. It's driving me nuts that the new Carcass song isn't online yet, I know it's called Under the Scalpel Blade but I can't find it anywhere. Death metal was an answer on Jeopardy the other nite. Contestant got it right but ended up losing.
The Noctem album I want isn't online either and the CD isn't on sale until Dec 13! Crazy, like they don't want the money. That's wild to see on Jeopardy Listened to maybe 15 black metal bands and the sound of Second Wave style BM intentionally recorded/ mastered to sound like hand-held AM radio put me off so much. I returned to Hideous Divinity in part out of curiosity for it might have been a temporary spell cast on me. I don't care much for Tech-Death but this was logged in my noggin as a top ten album of the year. That can't be right. Not a jump around from track to track type of album, which I have a nasty habit of doing, this needs to be played start to finish. This morning I made it to song #6 and was compelled to write that this IS a top ten album. So many of the songs begin hyper aggressive, which can put a person off as it might be so for the entirety, but along the way slow down and develop a real grace.
