I just discovered Humiliation, a death metal band from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, that plays homage to the mighty Bolt Thrower. Fans of the band, along with War Master from Texas, should check them out.

A new EP from Bolzer Lese Majesty, by BÖLZER and I'm curious if it has anything as catchy as that one tune from the last album.

    Nope!
And with that why does it seem refreshing to see most disappointing albums? For me, to know I wasn't nuts in disliking albums. Tomorrow is the beginning of their best albums. I only copied a single sentence from each.

    No Clean Singing's 2019 – A YEAR IN REVIEW(S): THE DISAPPOINTING

    ASTRONOID – ASTRONOID

Sadly, however, their self-titled follow-up just doesn’t capture the same magic.
    BATUSHKA – HOSPODI
    Hospodi
didn’t even come close to matching its predecessor’s quality or success, which does kind of indicate where the real talent lay, doesn’t it?
CRYPT SERMON – THE RUINS OF FADING LIGHT
it also contains quite a bit of material that’s notably weaker and more disjointed, meaning that while the album’s highs are certainly higher, its lows are conspicuously lower too.
    DEVIN TOWNSEND – EMPATH
throwing them all together in a kaleidoscopic cavalcade of bright lights and loud noises which is somehow paradoxically both the most Devin Townsend record yet, but also one of his weakest.
    KRYSTHLA – WORLDWIDE NEGATIVE
the band are still very good at what they do, it’s just a shame that a lot of what they choose to do here isn’t particularly interesting or inspired.
    NOVEMBERS DOOM – NEPHILIM GROVE
Again, as with most of the records on this list, it’s not a bad album, per se, and it contains a couple of big hitters, but it also holds a handful of real duds, and lacks the consistency and clarity of vision that its predecessors possessed.
    ROTTING CHRIST – THE HERETICS
perfection is sometimes just another word for stagnation, and The Heretics offers absolutely nothing new, no shocks, no surprises, no real excitement, and in fact seems to actively reuse and regurgitate ideas and melodies from the band’s last couple of albums.
    SLEEP TOKEN – SUNDOWNING
far too often the band stick to a very safe and predictable formula which ticks all the right boxes but prevents them living up to their full potential.
    WARFORGED – I: VOICE
the album as a whole is overstuffed and ultimately less than the sum of its parts, and would likely have been stronger and more consistent/coherent as an EP.

Agree: Astronoid it was a letdown, almost like they painted themselves into a corner. Warforged I agree, too much going on.

Disagree: Crypt Sermon, I love this album, leave it alone. Devin Townsend presented a career summary and I think he pulled it off.

A song stuck in my head caused me to browse 2019, though not sure what year the tick biting me is from. I've ended up finding albums I have no memory of and at best are (underground) one hit wonders.

This song puts the goofiest smile on my face. I wish it was by a completely smashed, falling down Dean Martin growling his way through it.

Like a chocolate covered almond, it's so simple and so much better than it should be. A month later I still love this, this exercise in simplicity. Headphones and the deep immersion help.

NCS's Andy Synn had a long list of "good" albums one day then "great" albums yesterday. About 100 of each and in alphabetical order. 2019 – A YEAR IN REVIEW(S): THE GREAT - NO CLEAN SINGING Thankfully almost each item on the list was a link and click away from their bandcamp. With nothing better to check out I've been clicking on down the road/list. Too bad I hit letter G before being engaged by this Canadian band. "Ohhhhh Cana.."....nevermind. Gomorrah, by Gomorrah

Interestingly there is a guitar play through/ advertisement for Ibanez guitars without vocals.

Something I missed from last August. Although the cover is familiar. There couldn't be two B&Ws of nekkid people around a fire. The improbably lit buttocks do look familiar. :) Yes it seems solid all the way through much like Murg has been. This has greater asskickery within. SWARN - Black Flame Order, by SWARN

The Andy fellow at NCS has his "Critical Top Ten". Car bomb??????
2019 – A YEAR IN REVIEW(S): THE CRITICAL TOP TEN

    FVNERAL FVKK – CARNAL CONFESSIONS

Spent four pleasant hours exploring this thread yesterday evening. In recent weeks, thanks to you headbangers, I have discovered Tomb Mold, Blood Incantation, Lurker of Chalice, Horrendous, Timeghoul, Krolok, Orchid, and Immortal Bird. I"m going to go broke! Anyway, thank you!

I dug this one a lot on a first pass. Definitely worth a listening session to see what you think.

    That's fantastic.

They stole Kurt Russell's Deathproof car.

Along those lines of something different a luscious sounding project between Japanese band MONO and singer A.A.Williams. Exit in Darkness, by MONO & A.A.Williams
