Rats, I don't have itunes. Oh well. Not entirely out of the mainstream tech loop, I await news of the first video single. A nice touch that bust of a giant of Western civilization, Col Sanders. Yuk yuk.
Some hours ago. Just another song off the album and the opinion that I think some of the staying power of this is how well it's recorded. Occasionally I play it at unsafe levels.
Midnight put out another fun video. I have to say I love the 80's style production in these recent thrashy videos. Butcher being the other vid.
I'm not sure if this quite fits the subject of this thread since I've never been great about classifying stuff in various sub-genres, but this has some seriously satisfying riffs that will make you want to punch a throat: Return to the House of the Gods, by Greater Gods
Drug Honkey (USA) – Ghost in the Fire (2012) Experimental/Psychedelic Death/Doom Metal (and drugs) Uh…. Yeah…. Imagine THE RIFF from the song Black Sabbath slowed down and then married with Eraserhead and drugs. But slower… and recorded in a toilet stall. And drugs. A creeping fog of ambient noise and slow riffage descends. The last two tracks are faster. Molasses compared to tar. Not really my thing. Did I mention drugs? GRR
Trench Warfare (USA) – Hatred Prayer (2019) Black/Death Metal Blackened Death Metal with some Grind thrown in. Actually not too shabby, but the production is remarkedly lo-fi. Too much so. Not great enough or interesting enough to overcome this. Sorry guys. Could have been a decent album GRR
I absolutely love this album as well as Diabolical Summoning, and Hate. I saw them live back in 1994 opening for Cannibal Corpse. It was an awesome show.
I'm not always a fan of Gnaw Their Tongues or the guy's other musical projects such as Hagetisse, but this is vile in the best way possible. Shades of old Leviathan and Ævangelist:
As an almost once amateur astronomer who while gazing at the stars with a head full from the browsing of amazing telescopes available for reasonable prices, foresaw a two week honeymoon period and then another dust gatherer. Fugetaboutit. The song titles of this split and the layout has me hope for big things. Two songs available here 2. Mars and 3. Earth and I like the second one starting at 09:25 much more. You sold me on them, just ordered the CD. I'm a huge fan of stoner-leaning death doom and this sounds right up my alley.
The second half of this song is a triumph. Proggy sludge but at a quick pace and a pure black metal vocal. I'm impressed! It works well and I turned it up twice. Picking up the torch from Mastodon and YOB maybe.
"Black Speed Metal" are a nice group of words. That's what this is I think. Production is cat piss but it's so much fun you stop caring. Reaper - Unholy Nordic Noise, by Iron Bonehead Productions
It turns out that that was the best song for me. I should have known. The rest of the album had all the prog attributes like repetition of instrumental phrases (that aren't that great). Disappointed by that but I still like the single song.
I caved and bought it. I couldn't help it, the cd was on sale at deepdiscount and I had a coupon as well. The peer pressure got to me and I caved. Like when Helen Hunt caved and took pcp and jumped out a window on that afternoon special! It's a slippery slope.
Quoting myself here because when I preordered this the label emailed me directly with a download link for the whole album. If you like the preview tracks, you'll like the whole album. Not the best production quality, but really good music.
This is very intriguing, but I don't think I'm going to preorder based on only one track: Old Smoke, by Barishi I do hope I remember this when the full album comes out in April.
