Toronto was a pretty happening place in the early eighties. Bands and TV shows took the name even. I do miss that, tuning into an hour long TV rock show Fridays and Saturdays.
On the big screen too. I watched this yesterday. It surprised me by being not nearly as bad as its reputation. It has good production values and genuine acting. Certainly better than a million b-movies. I saw it in the theatre. '"Although it was written and directed by an American and was filmed in Miami, Florida, Porky's was produced by the Canadian company Astral Media. As a result, Porky's can be classed as the highest-grossing Canadian film of all time in the United States and Canada."
I remember this being the film every young boy I knew wanted to see including me. I saw it for the first time when it was shown on the USA Network. That channel sucks now but back then it was the best channel to see stuff like that. Of course Porky's had been edited for T.V. ;however, it was the only way a boy my age was going to see it back then.
"So much wool, you could knit a sweater!" I remember sneaking into this movie when I was 11 or 12, it was awesome. I still enjoy it, one of my fave 80's flicks. What's amazing is that the director would go on to make the equally iconic A Christmas Story. If those 2 weren't enough, he also helmed the Canuck cult classic, Black Christmas, which some people consider the first slasher movie. Guy had quite a run! He was killed in a car wreck in the 00's.
"Public Service Announcement - Death Kvlt Productions has their entire digital discography of 77 releases on sale for £1.30. Yes, you read that correctly, 77 albums for just over a pound... you'd have to be an utter chud to pass that **** up" Time for a 77 item @fuzzface mass review! -------------------------- Last night I was stuck on this 23 minute song like a prehistoric mammoth stuck in a tar pit, complete with elephantine trumpeting of my labours to extricate myself. The bits I don't care for don't last long in this song which really is magnificent. The best BM of the year so far I think. I sometimes cheated by jumping to 13:00 for the most profound passage. Strangely enough nearing the end I anticipated a melody that did not materialize. It seems I was wishfully remembering incorrectly.
The show I had tix for was not rescheduled. Moved to a different city 3 1/2 hours away (instead of an hour)... A couple of long-long-long-time friends and I were going. Don't think we can all get together for the new city.
I had pull out my Collector's Guide to Heavy Metal to see what you were talking about, and man he despises her doesn't he? That is funny.

Mesmerized by that dancer! Palate cleanse Sounds like it could have come from that rocking live NBC TV Jesus Christ Superstar production from 2018. Heavy on the keyboards and a lovely DR11 "Mastered by Dan Swanö at Unisound" In a Pallid Shadow, by Northern Crown Today
Got a reply from TOV. Me: "Hi guys, congratulations for with "The World That Was" you've become the best band in the world. My question is regarding the video for "Self-Schism". I find the live performance parts to be so magnificent that I want more of that. Would it ever be possible to view raw footage or outtakes in a deluxe package of the album? To be able to view a straight live performance? Thank you guys for an album that in the future will be considered a classic. Mike" Alexander Awn from Temple Of Void: "Hey Mike. Thanks so much for the compliment, man! Much appreciated. We have oodles of footage, but it all resides w/ my friend who shot it, tbh. No plans on showing more. It was us in our practice space (i.e. drummer's basement) and us in my backyard. We went through the song a billion times or so. Different lenses and effects and whatnot. Hopefully we'll be able to see people live sooner or later. The US isn't exactly doing a stellar job on flattening this curve unfortunately. And that's keeping us at bay..."
Stretched my virtual legs around town listening to this and that and 30 albums later held onto two BM singles (from albums). June 30 Enshadowed - "Stare Into the Abyss", by Odium Records
Melodic BM, I enjoyed this whole album. It doesn't try to break new ground in any way. I'd score it Grrr at most but it is just easy to have on. A blackened Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers as they were the first reference that involuntarily came to mind. Tracklist 1. Ouroboric State 00:00 2. Moonlit Navigation 05:29 3. Dream and Memory 10:47 4. Chains of Loss 16:19 5. Signal Fires 20:55 6. The Breaking Point 27:58 7. Wild Magic 34:16 8. In Desperate Times 36:06 Also ordered a shirt. I like green. Matches my tongue.
For lifting heavy weights perhaps, this record leans deep into industrial muscle. The quasi-rapping chants aren't my thing but the chorus is good. As soon I decide to move on something awesome comes on. Song #3 Portraits, which is seamlessly attached to the song before, is a mighty surprise. Gorgeous, really. It was the pair of songs which followed that had me ditching the album altogether. Then massive, amazing groove in the final song. In my heart I give it an extra point just for being unique.
