Rather in the mood for a certified favourite and going with category Death-Doom Alex. Instead of listening to 20 mediocre bands of the day. I do think this is one of the most beautiful album openings in extreme metal. There's a question. Anyone else have a contender for their #1 opening?
Thrashy death out tomorrow and based on this song it could be great. Circle of Darkness, by Plague Years Also, TOV signed with Relapse and confirmation there will be a new album in 2021. "Relapse Records is proud to announce the signing of Detroit, MI based death/doom legion Temple Of Void! Temple of Void are currently writing their Relapse debut, their 4th full length, set to be released in 2021. Stay tuned for more information in the near future." "The pandemic may have stopped us playing shows, but it can’t stop us writing a new record. We’ve been hard at work ever since lock-down started, crafting new songs and exploring new ways to expand and hone our signature sound. Never a band to write the same album twice, our debut for Relapse will both be familiar and new all at the same time. Echoes of the past will meet with glimpses into the future. Each record we write stands on the shoulders of the prior albums, and this is no different. We’re beyond ****ing excited to get into the studio next year and track this beast." - Temple of Void
np A lengthy article over at Revolver Florida Death Metal's Gory Rise, Groundbreaking Reign: The Definitive Oral History "Deicide, Death, Morbid Angel, Obituary and more tell the story of one of heavy music's most game-changing movements" Deicide's Glen Benton, 1990
Attention Iceland-O-philes, AUÐN have an album coming October 30 and based on these two excellent tracks it should be a winner. Vökudraumsins Fangi, by Auðn "Iceland’s Auðn embraces their environment, capturing the loneliness and beauty of the barren breadths of icy, volcanic soil that defines the “desolate landscape” of their homeland. ‘Vökudraumsins fangi’ translates to “prisoner of the daydream,” referring to a perpetual state of delusion and the belief in a manufactured reality that never actually existed. The six piece’s distinguished brand of black metal captures an atmosphere of elegant darkness and spectacular melodies, delivering a polished and contemporary side of the genre."
Listening to the new Napalm Death - it's nice to hear them mellowing with old age (not). Music to rampage by.
I got the same result from the shout outs. The only metal one being Jupiterian and I'm tired of the caverous stuff where one song is hard to distinguish from another. Also Banger stopped playing 30 second cuts of the shout outs. I liked the choice cuts.
I caroused at a few music public houses and the best I came away with is this lively traditional BM. Nothing original but I like the technique and execution. The album is scheduled for an unknown date this year.
Looking, I found an EP by the same band or person from last year. Too bad I only liked one song but I'll take that.
^^^the name of that band reminds me of kudzu, aka, “the vine that ate the south”. There are whole mountain sides here covered in it. Kudzu - Wikipedia

I'm more of a traditional hard rock/classic rock/metal fan, but I really like Burzum----musically that is. Can't stand what Varg Vikernes espouses on race, politics. Are there bands similar, with maybe a less hateful view? Note: what I love is the raw production. I love lush, big production in other musical styles, but black metal needs to be raw sounding with no bass IMO!
That is wild. I'll keep an eye on the border for the creeping green takeover. Oh that's awesome. The youtube channel Black Metal Promotion posts albums or songs multiple times a day which run the gamut from bassless to full range sonically.
You might like some of these - the early 90's is where you'll find that raw lo-fi quality. Mayhem - De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas Emperor - In the Nightside Eclipse Darkthrone - early albums (A Blaze in the Northern Sky) Ulver - first three records only Satyricon - Nemesis Divina Immortal - At the Heart of Winter (early stuff) Enslaved - early Dimmu Borgir - Stormblast
I think that's correct. I encounter it now very rarely and it's usually a minor band. Certainly not bigger bands like in the old days.
