Me too, it was a great show and I'd buy a Blu-ray of it in a heartbeat. Again, me too, the title track of the upcoming album, and the title track of the recent EP are really good. And yeah, great cover!
I'm enjoying these nuts. Although all the songs are tongue-in-cheek to a degree the album's last track is extra cheeky.
My desire to hear the conclusion of this song in the highest fidelity possible had me buy the album. Another love note. Again a song where the first two thirds are cool but kind of dull and repetitious. Then the last third is thoroughly magnificent. Heroism of the military beat and pathos of the notes. Gorgeous.
Some macabre doom for @lenny nero or at least doom for the most part until the pace picks up a bit halfway through and I become engaged. A great ending to this. October 2
No one asked for it, but here are some mini-reviews that I have been sitting on for months... all Deathkult Productions stuff I got during a sale they had Æternum Infinitus .-. . .--. . .-.. .-.. .- -. - Sweden 2018 Majestically framed songs. Gutteral growls. Lo-fidelity recording. I think this might be what Galactus sounds like (through blown speakers) GR1/2
Ages of Blood Pagan Medieval Aristocracy Argentina 2020 One man outfit Flutes, horns, ect… played on synth Classic type BM Only one so far that I have played (and wanted to play) more than once. I can’t explain why. Some part of it just grabbed me. GRRR
Akasha USA One man BM Consuming the Soul (2018) ep Dark church organ music and with spectral wailing and groaning give way to the first proper track. Standard old-school lo-fi BM. Track Solar Eclipse shows promise and is cool (mostly instrumental with some shrieks and groans). Skip ahead to Moonlite RituHell (ft. Lord II of BYYRTH) for a nice surprise. Recording still sucks, but this is a cool tune. GROOVY. Elevates the whole album. Ends with a cover of Misfits’ Last Caress. Not too shabby. GRR1/2
Akasha USA One man BM Canticles Of The Sepulchral Deity (2019) A step-up production-wise form the CtS ep. But still not great. Just a little more separation and spaciousness, but not a ton. Definite improvement in songwriting. Not unique or revelatory, but decent. Pretty straight-forward, though some of the riffs and tones are cool (Enthroned in Catacombs). Decent instrument playing too. Maybe a cross between Behemoth and Anaal Nathrakh (vocally) with a bit of madcap Voivod thrown in. Something like that anyway. Or not. This album got better the more it progressed. GRRR
Äkth Gánahëth Crowned in Shadows 2020 Iceland One Man BM I don’t know what’s up with all these Deathkult Productions albums starting with a mainly synth instrumental track (that sound a lot better sonically than the rest of the album), but it is tiresiome… sigh… Ok. Here we go. RAW black metal. Very lo-fi recording, but something about the sincerity is making me pay attention. And while it sound like it was recorded to cassette, it does have some space in the soundstage. Not at all claustrophobic. This, to me, harkens back to the old days of BM. And why I like this whole genre of music. I can’t quite put my finger on why this spoke to me, but it did. Rather simple in composure but vast in expression. Icy blasts swirl through your ears and into your veins. For fans of old-school, this is recommended. GRRR1/2
Outstanding! And out of the blue. Get you a case of beer for this one. I was called up to do a rare 3pm - 11pm shift so I'll have to wait 'till I'm home to indulge in your goodies at the midnight hour. It's cool cuz I'm off tomorrow.
Listening now, if Portal/Voivod had a baby....The bass/drum work is . This band should be on Profound Lore, this is right up Chris' alley. I can't find anything cookie cutter or predictable here, you're going on.a journey whether you like it or not. Mastering is actually decent, loud is loud, quiet is quiet. Add this to the Oranssi Pazuzu/Primitive Man/Portal/Sunn O))) list of (we need a new genre name here) metal bands.
