^^^^^ The beast lives! Quite healthy. It's an interesting group of genres extreme metal. The cream of the crop can go toe to toe with anything. More monochrome melodies. Black-Rubber Soul.
Browsing metal bandcamp and I came up empty of black or death but I did find this 2007 Neurosis album for 'name your price'. Given To The Rising, by Neurosis I'm familiar with the band name but not with the music. Very soulful and nicely heavy at times. I'm not far into the album so far. Stuck in the hot tar of the album opener. That drawn out throat drag just before 4:00 is brilliant.
On deck. Maybe get a chance for a full spin late tonight. Oct 22 La Société Satanique Des Poètes Morts, by LE CHANT NOIR
Wow, well recorded BM and very interesting songs. This is California BM, a fair amount freestyle, it roams about. Oct 22 Rotting Body In The Range Of Light, by FERAL SEASON Song #1 Beautiful cover
Eyeballed this at YT. I like it best the first two minutes before the serious pummeling begins. Nov 19 The Temple, by THE TEMPLE
Some more compelling pounding. The dissonant guitar tone is an interesting one that works. Two interesting albums just like that. Bing bang boom!
Anybody listen to the new Rivers of Nihil album yet? Thoughts? Waiting to get it on vinyl to listen, but it's getting hard because the vinyl release keeps getting pushed back....
Surprised to learn that Samoth's ex wife, Andrea Meyer, was one of the victims in that bow and arrow attack in Norway last week. I believe she also did some of the spoken word parts on Cradle of Filth's The Principle of Evil Made Flesh. Craziness.
It's at the top of my list of things to do. I liked the single songs I've heard. I might have been intimidated by the album's 104 minutes.
My long-time sense of invulnerability has been stabbed to death by these bizarro events. A van running down busy sidewalks minutes from your front door, etc.
I think it will be worth the wait. I've indulged several times and think it's fantastic. They've become one of my current favorite bands.
Please share your thoughts after you listen! That's glad to hear. I can't wait. Thanks for the review.
