It's a good song, but "Coma" and "Bad Obsession" from UYI I are better.

Quite the landslide for appetite which really comes as no surprise.

Says you, I say different. But "Don't Damn Me" is great, too.

AFD no question, but a single album from the UYI sessions IMO could top that one

Picked AFD but I agree I love Chinese Democracy.

  7. I'm a little stunned it's this much of a blow-out in the poll. I do think a combined UYI album cutting out the weaker songs would have far more votes challenging AFD.

AFD is THE Guns and Roses album. Not surprising. The Use Your Illusion albums aren’t getting the love they deserve IMO but I get it. AFD was just too huge. What surprises me a bit is that Chinese Democracy has a very narrow grasp on second place currently. I do like the album, but still.

    "Might be"?

Better poll would've asked for the best among the albums other than "AfD".

As it stands, this is a bloodbath that anyone could've seen coming...

I’m surprised it isn’t more lopsided than it is. AFD should be at 100%.

As mentioned, I was aware that I'm way in the minority and that "Appetite" would most likely win, when starting this thread, but didn't expect such a huge gap between it and the rest. Since for me personally "Appetite" is only #2 and I wanted to find out how many others are of my opinion, this poll is fine as it is.

Even though, I have to admit this (
) would've been much closer and, as a consequence, more interesting, of course.

Appetite is their best for sure and one of the greatest hard rock albums of all time, but the Illusion albums may be taken for granted now decades after their release. Yes, they are bloated, and a definite product of the CD era. As for making one good album, I think to do that, and assuming you mean one vinyl format album of about 45 minutes long you would be cutting out too many good songs. Illusion II has a couple of clunkers but I think most of what's on there is good. Same for Illusion I. Each of the Illusion albums is the equivalent of a double vinyl album, so when these two albums were released the same day, and I remember the day they were released, they were essentially releasing the equivalent of four vinyl albums at once of all new material. I don't think that has ever been done. And make no mistake, many of the songs were huge hits and anthems for that era. They made the band way bigger than when Appetite was their main work. Yes, Appetite For Destruction is their most focused and defining moment, but the Illusion albums deserve much respect too in my opinion.

There’s no question that Appetite is their best album, but the Illusion albums have songs that are just as good as the ones on Appetite. Plus, a lot of the songs were written at the same time. If they had released Use Your Illusion as a concise 2xLP, I think it would be looked back on a lot more fondly. Here’s my idea of what Illusion should’ve been:

    SIDE 1 (17:09)

    You Could Be Mine (5:48)
    14 Years (4:17)
    Don't Cry (4:42)
    Perfect Crime (2:22)

    SIDE 2 (16:09)
    Locomotive (8:42)
    Dust n' Bones (4:55)
    You Ain't the First (2:32)

    SIDE 3 (16:58)
    Double Talkin' Jive (3:19)
    November Rain (8:53)
    Pretty Tied Up (4:46)

    SIDE 4 (19:28)
    Estranged (9:20)
    Coma (10:08)

The rest of the tracks would make killer B-sides.

Who voted for the spaghetti incident? One of the worst all time albums.

To the other members comments, it’s Appetite For Destruction and it’s not even close.

Just included it because officially it's a studio album, but basicly you're right.

I prefer the best of the Illusions albums but each as they are, Appetite blows them out of the water. I owned a single disc version of UYI but it was missing some key tracks. Get the 4 “epics”(Estranged, November Rain, Coma and Locomotive) on there and get rid of the handful of soundalikes and you’ve got something that can easily hang with and possibly surpass Appetite. Enough to tie it back to the first album and showing real growth.
