Oh yeah -- I've been watching the Cherry's on TMR for a while..if the cabinets were mint they'd probably already be in my house.
Not really a good deal. Take a look at the photos showing the damage to the corners. This is a fixer-upper pair.
An Australian magazine did reviews of both. Harbeth Monitor 30.1 Loudspeakers Review & Test Harbeth 30.2 Anniversary Loudspeakers Review & Test
good point, possibly a bargaining point? a little care and someone could satisfactorily fix the ding DIY.
wow, very different voicing. shows why i like the grilles off! based on the measurements I would like the 30.2 more. deeper bass, less cabinet warmth (or so it seems) - flattens out after 250Hz compared to the slow taper on the 30.1. Still we know the 30.1 are quite awesome sounding. I heard the 30.2 and didn't care for them but it could easily have been the source and recording.
Seems the .2 is largely a refinement of the primary criticism of the .1 - the mid-bass bump. I noted several users over on PFM didn't care for it subjectively. Though, as ever with such fr differences between model iterations, it's just as important how they play in room. My own thinking is I'll gravitate from the Plus to the .2 when it's released in standard veneers, which I hear is the eventual plan. Ultimately I prefer the soft dome tweeter presentation on m30.1/2.
interesting take. i had the C7ES3 and loved the way the seas aluminum dome sounded- a bit more detailed and airy without ever being edgy or harsh. One of the big things I missed !
They seemed to have mixed upp grill on and off in 30.1 measurements. Grille removed should give around 2dB boost between 7-8 and 20kHz. 2dB is extremely little and your toe in/out will change this far more. I use my grille on again after some AB testing. Using the grill will give the flattest frequency response.
Just set, spiked and leveled my DIY stands- awaitng their rightful occupants! Spiked to the concrete floor even improved the bass response of my old Polk Audio monitors.
Thank you! They are made of plywood, MDF and Dynamat! I put a few layers of Dynamat under each top and bottom shelf. These things are solid and have no ring or resonance. All they need is the speakers they were designed for!
avanti, what's the ETA on your speakers? Seems like a long time coming to me, must be tons more to you
Congratulations! You just bought a great pair of speakers. Hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoy mine.
