Has Elton John recorded another song that rocks harder than "The Bitch Is Back"?

"Grow Some Funk Of Your Own" and "Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting" would also be my choices . . .

The Who wrote and recorded Pinball Wizard first for the 1969 Tommy album. EJ covered it for the Tommy movie. Unless you're joking.

I’m guessing the smilie face at the end of the comment was a clue...

Nope. I don't say it rocks harder BiB, but I like it better than some other songs already mentioned.

That was actually the first song I thought of, too, before Saturday Night’s All Right for Overcompensating.

Oh. Because you were asking what songs rocked as hard or harder than BiB in the OP.

Some others that have a harder edge than EJ usually had in the 80s:

Two tracks from The Fox: “Fascist Faces” and “Heart in the Right Place”, are pretty “heavy” tracks (as opposed to “Kiss the Bride” which - despite its sound is a pretty “poppy” song, IMO). Not sure what @fsutall would have to say about that (?).

Also the b-side version of 1982’s “Where Have All The Good Times Gone” (which was essentially a studio version of how he did it live in ‘82) is a decent rockin’ track (nice guitar outro):

Also, although it’s probably more “funk” than “rock”, this is a forgotten high-energy track:

Yeah, I was joking -- although when I was a kid it was EJ's version I heard on the radio, so the first time I heard the Who's version I actually did think they had covered him.

I'd nominate "I'm Still Standing" even with/in spite of/because of (circle as appropriate) Russell Mulcahy's video.

I think Island Girl rocks too.
I may lose my rock cred, but I also think this rocks, at least vocally speaking

Figured you were but you never know. I heard EJs version first too and although I was aware it was a cover as my dad explained all this to me, the first time I heard The Who's version I thought it sucked lol. It grew on me but I still only dig it in the context of the Tommy album. Elton John does a fantastic version of it in his glorious prime.
He really makes it his own.
I think the Who do some great covers of their own songs on the soundtrack too.

Where can I find that? Is it the one with Mick Ronson?

It's on the SACD of Tumbleweed Connection from the early 2000's. It's labeled as Madman Across the Water (original version)
