songs you like by artists you don't

Wouldn't use that strong of language. Had some others examples in the linked thread. Would put Natalie Merchant down as not nearly among my favoriteson, but love "Wonder."

I never cared much for Bob Dylan, but I really do like "Tangled Up In Blue".

I agree that it's fantastic, what i meant was i don't care for Junior Walker's own version of the song as much as Foreigner's.

Just curious, how does Brian Wilson inspire hostility?

Towards Wilson himself it's more indifference than hostility. Towards the Beach Boys as a unit it's more the latter. Can't really explain it, it's just a visceral response.

I think it's in your DNA. It's in mine, too. Some music just grates.

I'm not much of a Bob Seger fan either but Ramblin' Gamblin' Man and Miami are alright.

I'm not part of the Ted Nugent fan club (despite being less hostile to his viewpoints than many) but Journey to the Center of the Mind is pretty good and then I bought a K-Tel comp in the late '60s and discovered You Talk Sunshine I Breathe Fire which is better!

I never followed Kiss either but I agree with the comment about Hard Luck Woman; I bought the 45.

Quite a few artists mentioned in the thread (Smiths, Stones, especially the Moody Blues), I like most of their songs.

I like that version by Junior Walker. Thanks for the link.

Was it Foreigner or Junior Walker who did the original version of 'Urgent'? Either way, I like how whoever did the cover version put their own style to it so it sounds like a different song(not saying I like one better than the other, as would need to give this version several more listens but I seem to like both versions, as nothing more pointless than doing a cover version of a song that sounds almost the same as the original. That is why Talking Heads doing Al Green's 'Take Me to the River' works so well, as it has it's own unique style).

Although, I do not despise Foreigner like I do most Corporate Rock Bands from their Era/Time Period and actually own one CD that is either a Greatest Hits or Best Of(do not listen to it much anyways), the only song by them that I consider really good is "Juke Box Hero'.

Might be sacrilege to say Hendrix and "hate" is definitely not the word I'd use to describe what I think of him, I certainly have the utmost respect for the man but I really don't get into his music that much at all except for his cover of "All Along the Watchtower", which is amazing.

And it might be cheating a bit but I love Def Leppard thru the first three albums, and outright loathe them from Hysteria onwards. That said, "Gods of War" on Hysteria is really good.

I don't like Danzig. I find it to be mostly shock oriented formulaic hard rock. That being said, I love "Mother"

Definitely not hate, but I've never gotten what the big deal was with The Band beyond "The Weight"

The Dead's Touch of Grey (is that the right title?) isn't awful. Same with Like a Rolling Stone. Not a fan of either of those artists.

    Ugh.
Can we at least refrain from using the word hate on these Things I Do Not Like threads?
There's enough of it in the real world, and to interject it in discussions as light as what particular 70s rock outfit I do not like, is a bit unseemly.
    Off soapbox now.
