I mostly don't like Styx much, but I love the song Fooling Yourself.

I wouldn't go as far as you, but I will say those first two albums are very under-rated while a few of his later ones are vastly over- rated. I'm glad he wasn't dropped by CBS, but sometimes I wish he didn't meet Jon Landau.

Yeah, what if you hate someone personally, but like a lot of their songs. Glitter had quite a few fun songs (though I'm much more comfortable listening to Joan Jett cover Do You Wanna Touch).

Never cared for Madonna, but always like "Beautiful Stranger." "Material Girl" makes me nostalgic for my youth, but I hated the song at the time.

It's funny. Never cared for her much either, but I did have fling with Ray of Light. Her early hits--"Holiday", "Borderline", "Like a Virgin"-- put me in a nostalgic mood for those times. I wasn't paying much attention then, but earworms burrow their way in anyway.

The girls liked those songs. Maybe that's what I really miss.

Not really a Night Ranger fan, but I loved "Don't Tell Me You Love Me."

Still don't like it. Nor "You Can Still Rock (In America)."

Sweet- "Fox on the Run" (for a while I thought this fun little tune was by Cheap Trick, another band I don't like)

I actually thought I did post this on this thread, but possibly it was another similar thread.

That is a great song. I liked them when they first came out, but Liam is a freakin' clownshoe...

Being a fan of black metal, this is an issue that crops up fairly often. From accusations of nazi sympathies to outright murder, several black metal artists come with some serious baggage. Probably foremost among them is Varg Vikernes, who was convicted of murdering his bandmate. Meanwhile, he made some excellent music through his solo project, Burzum.

I find that I can, for the most part, separate the person from the music. There are some things I probably wouldn't be able to tolerate, though. Apparently murder is not one of them. Go figure.

Really not a fan of U2 but Discotheque is a great song. Also can't stand Morrissey (for his latterday toxicity), and no longer play anything by him or The Smiths.

"Human" by Human League. Anything else by them is instant dial change, but this is pure ear candy. Lots of credit to the production team!

My wife does not care for Dylan's voice even a little but she really likes that song. At first she didn't believe it was him but I told her it was one of many Bob "voices" that he has used over the years.

I met Seger once when I was working the theatre where he was rehearsing and he was very nice and friendly, even autographed my Silver Bullet Live LP.

Van Morrison comes across very badly in a few books in which he shows up as a minor character but the list of his songs that I like is pretty long.

I'm not anti Madonna, but I'm not a huge fan. I also like "Material Girl" and many years later I figured out why, because it was written by Pater Brown, who released a handful of funky little ditties that I have always enjoyed on TK Records, some years before writing "Material Girl", like this one ...
