I do not like anything that is graphically sexual. I have no interest in hearing about your wet p***y or that you are trying to score some wet p***y.

"Slice of Life"? Boring, mildly (and deliberately) offensive, etc. I don't dislike really, that would require too much effort. I just don't care, and I don't have to. People like it, fine. Hand out awards etc., have fun. Ooops...

Thanks for bringing that to our attention. You probably won't like this song then:

"La Gata Bajo la Lluvia" (The Cat Under the Rain)
    Rocio Durcal

Is there any excuse for ‘not understanding’ lyrics in a foreign language in 2023? Google translate is a thing.

Huey's lyrics seen like they were written to be as least offensive as possible, which makes them lame. That's a shame, because his band can rock out when given the opportunity (live).

So it's not hip to be square then. Phew! I've been confused over that for decades.

I used to download a lot of Euro TV shows. Some with no English subtitles, but other languages.
Google Translate was certainly better than zero comprehension, but there was a lot of puzzling, and sometimes hilarious, results. Not a solution for song lyrics, IMO. But I suppose a source of fun.

I mostly hear vocals as another instrument. What's being said is secondary, so I don't often get worked up over lyrics.

when The Stones switch in the early 70s from writing on timeless subjects to just being focused jetsetting rockstars their magic was gone

Aerosmith was always about the rockstar life
Cool when you are 15 - doesn’t age well decades later

One of the things that separated Led Zeppelin from all their imitators was that the lyrics were on a higher level.
Yet they could do a song like Sick Again where the focus was more on the downfall of the LA scene and not sweet sweet Connie or she’s my Cherry Pie

Once I became a Christian I stopped listening to Lennon's Plastic Ono Band. (half of it anyway) I don't hate him or his music. Jut not going to sing/listen to something I blatantly disagree with.

Good lyrics may help me appreciate a song more; bad lyrics are only an issue if I’ve already made up my mind I don’t like an artist, and then it’s only to help me confirm my prejudices.

The only lyric that’s come close to changing my mind about an artist is My Weapon by XTC, which is an horrendously misogynist song. I’ve manage to avoid it putting me off the band because Barry Andrews only wrote a handful of songs for them and his other track on Go2 is one of the album’s high points.

Heaps of times. Listening back to albums l listened too and loved but then moved on from l can see why l continued to smile and relate to Bon Scott AcDc yet stopped listening so much to Rose Tattoo. I think it was lyrics to a song called Revenge which prefigured and supported the voice to an ugly period in Australian culture. Sadly Angry kept it up over the decades. I have no sympathy for him, although continue to dig the hard core sound of the Tatts. Go figure :D

I wrote off Deep Purple early on, mostly for daft lyrics.
