Sitting here watching a Bob The Builder movie with my grandson & Brian Cox does one of the characters. Needless to say, the dialogue I’m hearing in my head is upping the entertainment value.
Looking for another series to get into after just finishing Succession, and thinking about Gemstones because of it's supposed similarities to Succession. And I'm a big Goodman fan. Thoughts?
Thanks that's what I've read. Think I'm going to dive in. It's almost too easy to make fun of but have heard the show does a great job with it.
Watched most of Veep, like it well enough but got tired of it towards the end. What didn't you like about Gemstones? Basically I like satire, but not too heavy handed. Which is why I enjoyed Succession so much. And why I had a problem with Don't Look Up.
It didn’t make me laugh! The characters are very exaggerated and hammy, not a fan of that style. Humor is subjective though, give it a try!
Gemstones mirrors Succession in the fact that the kids wanna take over the business, but they're not too bright...
smartest TV show atm ? feel dumb (in a good way) when i am watching this at times but i love it , most 'smart' tv shows out there are just ordinary stuff disguised as smart tv what a time to be a fan of tv series
Halt and Catch Fire , first 2 seasons are good but S3 and S4 is breathtaking TV really check this out , this is a gem lost in the crowd of hyped/normal tv shows
It was one of the few series that got consistently better with each season. The last season was up there with the best. Another series that developed like this was The Shield.
1 - and this is how you end a Season , what an end !!! 2 - Shiv is a calculating, power-hungry heartless bitch - Team Tom **** yeah 3 - Nero , Sporus and the Devil 4 - who needs a soul , right ? 5 - hoping for more Skarsgaard in the next season - the Brody arc was a letdown , but Skarsgaard really showed his chops when he had a scene 6 - this show has the BEST (by far) ending episode/credits music - Britell is a ****in' genius , feels like channeling Chopin into the 21st century. 7 - Brian Cox is a ****in' giant in this show , unbelievable use of such trivial things as silence/a sigh/a hand gesture
He terrified his children with a box of donuts. By the time they finally stood up to him, it was too late.
Watched a fair number of episodes but just couldn’t bring myself to hit the on button again. No empathy or ability on my part to associate with any of the characters. Honestly, I grew to dislike it. My apologies to the cast. It ain’t your fault.
J.Cameron Smith is heart-breaking there , imo probably the most empathetic show i have ever watched - makes 6 feet under seem like a light comedy series
