I'm so not a fan of 'heavy' as it eventually came to be (mis)understood, it was a mistake IMHO; nonetheless, I do find beginnings interesting.

Are you implying that metal and such is a “mistake?”

Yes, that's very heavy...what's more, I have this album, haven't listened to it in years, and definitely need to give it another spin. I also have a CD of the band in their earlier days when they were known as the Brain Train.

Animal could get heavy-handed at times.

No, I'm not implying it, I'm stating it flat out. YMMV. There are things that some might describe as 'heavy' that I do like and don't think of as mistakes, but what I like about them is some other aspect.

Drumming as fast as Keith Moon, screaming garage rock/punk vocal, constant guitar distortion combined with wild organ in 1:52. It might be better for a fastest song thread. Elephant-heavy.

It's got to be a song from The Velvet Underground & Nico. Three tracks spring to mind - Heroin, Black Angel's Death Song or - the one I will nominate - European Son.

Wow! Never really understood this song from my beloved fab four. This thread totally puts in context and I'm into it. Thanks for that!
