Jpc.de is offering a new Sony Legacy release of a 2lp set called Machine Gun.It is supposed to be the Dec 31 1969 Early show of the Band Of Gypsys at the Fillmore East.If this is true this could be from the Multitracks.
This would be an awesome release .Hopefully cd and dvd audio 5.1 would be issued at the same time .On the most recent release of the Band of Gypsys DVD from 2012 had a 5.1 mix of the January 1,1970 early show that sounded great .

This is the best show of the four .The setlist is superb and the only one to feature the izabella-machine gun medley as originaly conceived. It also has Bleeding Heart and Burning desire.

The official site isn't saying anything about this, yet.
I think they're usually the last to know, though, right?
I saw this mentioned on another site.
I'm sure it'll be on CD as well.

Experience Hendrix like to release DVD/Blu Ray with their live album releases, so maybe we can expect some video as well.
I don't know if there is enough existing footage left off the previous Band Of Gypsys dvd release to fill out a new video product.
Maybe just a reissue with some added content.

I don't think any of these recordings made it onto the Band Of Gypsys original album.
I think there are only three previously released tracks on here, all of which were on the Fillmore East 2 CD set.

I think this would be the set list:

    Power Of Soul
    Lover Man
Hear My Train A Comin' ...........Is on the Fillmore East release
Them Changes .............................Is on Fillmore East release
Izabella .............................Is on Fillmore East release
    Machine Gun
    Stop
    Ezy Ryder
    Bleeding Heart
    Earth Blues
    Burning Desire

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

This hasn't been officially announced, yet. I hope we're not premature on this.

Rumor was that EH was going to release Stockholm '67 so this would definitely be a surprise if true.

Wouldn't hurt my feelings if they released both.

I can't imagine how awesome it would be to have a 5.1 Band of Gypsies release (or any 5.1 Hendrix for that matter)! Here's to hoping it will happen.

    Great news if its true.
Wonder how they're going to handle the malfunctioning microphone problem with Power Of Soul.

I hope they just release it warts and all and don't try to fix any of the recording problems of the show. They'll only mess it up if they do that.

the version of the missing vocals is on a reference tape that jimi took home .The vocals on power of soul may be on the multitacks tapes which Exoerience Hendrix now has in their possession.

  22. I guess I'll have to state the obvious...

Why don't they just release the boxset with all 4 shows?

I'm sure everyone in this thread would fork over the green for a set like that.

I agree somewhat, but the entire thing is available on decent boot legs, and although this is my favorite hendrix stuff, not all of it is amazing. The 1st show is the best show overall, and will make for a great release. Between repeated songs, buddy over scat singing and other issues, a full set would be less interesting from a "great listening" point of view, whereas the cut down versions become a career highlight - less is more. With that said, I and many other people who enjoy studying hendrix as much as listening would appreciate the entire thing in a well mixed, great sounding set. Hi Res digital download???

Fillmore east really was a great comp - and who knows, maybe they will end up releasing the whole thing, this release doesn't preclude that

You're bang-on Sarah! Also, "Hear My Train A Comin" was previously on the "Band Of Gypsys 2" album.
