Herman's Hermits - What isn't in Bear Family's terrific set

Just listened to some tracks from this amazing set the other night and was blown away at what sound quality they were able to achieve with original multis on hand.

some were complaining...I like it...sorta reminds me of the Rhino Left Banke CD...

sounds good until you put on a subwoofer and then you find something really weird going on in the very low bass frequencies.
not sure about the synch up at the start of the song either.

 

I recall, if it springs to life with previously unheard master tape detail, it can run also afoul with some forum expectations.

I just sat and listened to "No Milk Today" and was knocked out at that stereo mix.

Indeed it is interesting that Randy managed them on tour while in the US. Randy's country albums are on CD-R sold by Randy on CD Baby but they are all needle dropped.

That it is, stereo or mono. I like the stereo remix, I like the original mono, but the beauty lies in the song itself and the performance. Peter Noone and the band were just right for many of those Graham Gouldman tunes. East West is another fave.

 

The 2 disc EMI "Very Best of Herman's Hermits" that members keep mentioning has the same song twice ("Dream On" on Disc 1; "I Gotta Dream On" on Disc 2).

 

You are right. This is pop music at its finest.

 

I was never really satisfied with any of the HH CDs...a few from the UK were OK, but The STEREO BF set blows them all away!
