Ok here goes, I'm sorry if I'm repeating a thread, ( couldn't find one though ) I have been looking for rpl hi fi storage unit for my turntable and amp, at the moment there both on a solid oak sideboard, which won't budge one bit, ( plus it hides all the leads, keeps the wife happy )is it me or is the selection of hi fi units not that great, yes you can get stack units , but they look a tad boring and ugly ( not all i know ), am i ok to place turntable on the same sideboard as the amp? what do you folks use, standard furniture or specialised equipment? thanks for reading.

As long as the TT isn't stacked directly on top of the amp, I don't see why it would be a problem, unless you're have vibration issues.

I had mine in an Ikea cabinet for years, but was always wanting a mid-century stereo console that would look and sound great. I found a used one similar to this pic, removed all the old equipment, upgraded to better components (Dual 1225 TT, Marantz stereo receiver) and cut the front panel in two to make doors.

I used cabinet plywood to make shelves, so I have my TT on top, with a vintage top loader cassette player beside it. Next shelf is my dvd/cd player and Sonos. Receiver is on the bottom. I don't have any pics that I can load here, and I still haven't finished staining it (waiting for warmer weather), but it works great.

I was going to put some bookshelf speakers in the space where the original ones used to be, but I found it was too boomy. So I wired those to sit off to the side, and put a powered sub in the one side. I have a small TV wall mounted above it and for my living room it is a really nice setup.

A bit of work and if you don't have any woodworking tools or skills, not that achievable, but I'm very satisfied.

I just saw a guy build a 50s-60s stereo cabinet on YouTube. It looked very cool. I would give you the link but it was one of those stumble Dow the YouTube rabbit hole.

I just use a server rack with 1u shelving. I put my turn table on top. I have a Pyle Rackmount power supply strip that is in there to make cabling easier. The amp I have coming had a rack mount option which was awesome.

I'm setting up a shelf on the bottom of the rack to hold records. Admittedly racks probably wouldn't be the cheapest options but I got it free from a business I installed a new rack system for. It is heavy and certainly doesn't transmit any vibrations.

Check out auctions. There are usually some nice 70's hi fi cabinets for sale and they can be bought very cheaply.
