Just bought Sgt Pepper from ProStudioMasters for £21.79. Didn’t really want to pay any more than that

Can anybody who's bought it confirm whether the Sgt. Pepper download is the same as the hi res on the 50th anniversary Blu-ray or the LP master?

I’ll probably be getting it so I’ll chime in but it’ll likely be much later tonight, if not later in the weekend. This is a good week for hi res though! After neither of the releases I wanted last week came out in a hi-res format, this week we get Sgt. Pepper! Linkin Park’s last live album! New Star Wars soundtrack! And what appears to be the original version of Shania Twain’s Come On Over in 24/96… I haven’t even scratched the surface of this weeks stuff yet and already I want a lot :pineapple:

It appears Sgt Pepper has disappeared from AcousticSounds, Prostudiomasters and HDtracks will not allow me to check out and buy it.

HDtracks has been giving me errors all day. Haven’t even been able to browse the new releases yet.

I bought it from HDTracks around 5 or 5:30 EST and had no problems. Wonder what's up. Didn't get a chance to give it a deep listen but what I did hear sounded great.

Whew. So glad I “previewed” this one before buying. Avoid the new remaster of Come On Over by Shania Twain. Worse DR than the original CD, and a hard cutoff at 22khz. This probably is just a juiced up EQ’d version of the original CD master. The disc from 20 years ago is not nearly as grating on the ears. Avoid.

I can't possibly imagine Up! would sound worthy even at DSD levels.

What's the deal with David Crosby decreasing resolutions?

    Croz is 192
    Lighthouse 88
    Sky Trails 24/44

And how does Croz sound, in particular?

I noticed and was disappointed as well. To me Croz is the best if the three musically and is test quality sonically.

Just bought the DSD of Dean Martin - This Time I'm Swingin' from AcousticSounds. Tracks 1-12 are great - first rate stereo recordings of Dean and Nelson Riddle in their prime.

The bonus track of "Ain't That a Kick in the Head" on the other hand, is awful. It's mono for starters, and has very obvious compression. The same track on our host's Capitol Collectors Series CD sounds the way this one should - in clean stereo with lots of life to it.

If it indeed is the 2007 remaster in hi-res, then go for it! It's the only true stereo version of the album anyway. The AF SACD is mono and 4.0 and the original CD was fake stereo.

HDTracks does, in fact, have the copyright date as 2007, so it should be the stereo version...thank you!

Checked HDTracks today and the new releases are terrible (IMHO). I think that the record companies may be going all in on MQA, fortunately or unfortunately. More MQA releases now than HD downloads. We'll see what happens.
