Let's put it this way. It's like plugging a blu-ray player into an old tube television....

It’s not the software that’s a problem. Get a DAC.

Oh for the...I missed the "no DAC" part of the question The Punisher was answering. Sorry y'all.

    I need new glasses o_O

There’s always a DAC. If you use your computer’s audio out, that’s your DAC. Just not a very good one.

So I made the horrible mistake of buying The Essential Michael Jackson set from HDtracks.
Horrible DR loudness. Anywhere I could get this that’s not brick walled to hell?

I made the same mistake last month. A few edits I didn’t have but sound is just terrible.

According to the DR database, the only non-brickwalled version would be the Qobuz 24/96 download: Album list - Dynamic Range Database
But that's if the user entered the values correctly...

Either that or you re-compile the tracklist yourself using the best dynamic sources...

That DRDB entry for the HDtracks was from me. I took another gamble and lost...
How does buying from quobuz from the US work? Straightforward?

I saw something on Facebook from CES that they're coming to the US. I didn't click on it so I'm not sure. I signed up though a VPN. For the first couple of months, I purchased through the VPN. One time I forgot to turn it on and could buy without it.

Studios must somehow be convinced us Americans just like our music wrecked.

It has gotten very difficult to decipher good masterings from bad.
    - Like some bad, expensive jigsaw puzzle with missing pieces.
Used to be you just found the old ones on eBay. Well, they’re disappearing fast.

That I didn't realize. I'll have to look at getting a DAC to improve the quality of my music.

    1. There has to be a DAC in there somewhere to convert the digital signals into analog signals that you can hear.
    2. Yours is inside whatever devices you have that is receiving that wireless signal. What are they?

It works so there must be something in my labtop. What should I look for?

Thing is they will still be bound to region restrictions for music. The catalog they have now, won't be exactly the same once they set-up here.

It's just a little DAC chip probably married to your motherboard. If anything plays music internally- phones, tablets etc it has a digital to analog converter.
What these guys are saying is you'd probably benefit from a higher quality out-board.

So, you are sending it from your notebook (as digital wireless) to your laptop (and playing it through headphones or speakers)?

I’m sure I’ll keep changing the country in my account settings. I do that now because featured albums are a little different between countries. For instance in France, they heavily feature chansons. I’ve never checked but I assume those albums are available elsewhere in the EU, just not featured.
