Thanks for the heads up on the Toto albums. It the HighRes versions are compressed, I will not be purchasing. Period.

Stormwatch is from 1979. Was it digitally recorded?

I highly doubt it. Very few digital recordings were being made at that time, especially in pop music. @Plan9 might have more insight.

It was mixed fully analog originally of course (there are even details in the 40th anniversary bookset).
Remixed in 24/96 from 24/96 digital copies of the analog multitracks.

Don't know. Must have been one of the earliest if that's the case. But that is usually the reason for the hi-res vendors to sell music at lower sample rates than they were remastered at. Some people complaining there cannot be any information above 22 kHz or so when early digital technology was used in recording and/or mixing.

The Sean Magee remasters of Rush is a prime example. All transferred from master tapes and masterad at 24/192 but sold only in 24/48 in the cases where there are 44.1 or 48 kHz digital somewhere in the chain before the analog master tape. I would rather have them in the format they were after being remastered, without the downsampling.

Edit: Ah, sorry. Plan9 just gave us the answer.:) Even more strange to sell it in Redbook at HDTracks if that is indeed the case.

That's the old vinyl catalog number.
I enjoy the old run of the mill US compact disc. Mimics the old 79 TML LP. :)

I believe you, but you didn't give much info on this release. I'm assuming because it carries the old LP cat # it's one of the mini sleeve replica's.

It's a strange release as there's absolutely no information on the card sleeve.
I know it's the vinyl number. But the cd recording is so good. This cost me around £25 a few years ago. But it's worth it.
I'm trying to upload a photo but I don't know how to.

Just added it to my to-buy list. Interesting that the release year is listed as 2010.

So, I've signed up for emails from HDtracks and for some reason I'm not getting any (even checked my spam folder)....so I hate to ask again....are there any current coupon codes? I was planning on picking up a few things tomorrow.

It's only valid on some items - "JAM" is jazz appreciation month. There are some non-jazz items that are applicable but it's definitely not a store-wide coupon,

I was trying to pick up a few Tom Petty albums, coupon doesn't work on those. Thanks though!

I'm surprised: this is the first time in weeks that HDT USA isn't offering a sitewide sale code & there isn't jack for new releases based on their email.

    Best Sellers & New releases: 20% HD20April
    Good through 4/13

PSM will have site wide codes out probably in an hour or so. PSM usually issues 3 codes a week.

I was excited thinking that Cream in the list meant the newly released Goodbye tour live set would be available, but no. It was Live Cream, Vol 1, which I bought from HD Tracks years ago. I’ve noticed that quite a few times lately they list old stuff previously available, as a new release. Why do they do this? Seems like a paucity of new digital files is causing them to recycle stuff hoping somehow people will notice and buy a recording they may have passed by before.

PSM's current 15% off code is LIGHT through 4/14. Good on everything. + 30 & 40% off sales Joni Mitchell, Bad Company, Classical, REM, & 50% off Naxos

I could be wrong (I already own Live Cream in hr), but I think we're getting really brickwalled "remasters".
