That's what Jim Smith of "Get Better Sound" is currently using. Says it surprised him. The $20 stuff from IKEA.

    That has been my line of thinking . . . . . what IF the rack's shelf material alone could achieve ~ 87% of Stillpoint's effectiveness? Note to DIYers, a 2' X 2' X 1 1/2" bamboo shelf weighs ~ 22 lbs.

¾ " thick bamboo cutting boards => A DIY constrained layer damping turntable platform => a viscoelastic material sandwiched between two layers of strand-woven bamboo. There are a # of 1/8" thick viscoelastic materials used in the mechanical vibration control trades that have attractive price points.

There's even a bamboo cutting board w/half-round cork footers available, $20.

Stillpoints are not the same as a rack. Even their rack has the tech built into it.

I've just replaced the feet on my Marantz cd player with oak cone feet and have been pleasantly surprised by the difference they've made. Just wish I'd done it sooner.
