I was watching a later season episode of the show the other day, and it was just really boring.

Oooh...now I know which one you're talking about.
I nod off every time it's on.
If it weren't for the commercials being broadcast at higher levels, I'd-get close to :24 of solid napping, give or take.

The older seasons had their moments here and there, but it wasn't as funny when the sons got older, as it was when the youngsters were zinging dad.

It was Season 8 and Marty along with his daughters were in it. Mark had his guitar as well.

I only purchased the first six seasons, so I'm not too familiar with any of the others.
I did catch the Losing My Religion one with Eileen Heckart and Dan Aykroyd on TV which was OK.

So does that make Dan's Soul Man show a Home Improvement spin off? Really like Aykroyd but that show was pretty bad.

There's other Soul Man connections as well.

In the Season 1 finale episode "Cinderella and the Funeral", Al Borland appeared in order to fix the church's furnace. Reference was made to Tim and the holy water basin falling through the hole he cut.

Zachary Ty Bryan appeared in the episode "Public Embarrassment and Todd's First Sermon" playing Brad Taylor.

Has the original pilot with Frances Fisher ever seen the light of day, either on DVD or YouTube?

Currently, Season 6 is on Laff and Season 2 is on UP TV.

Season 6 is just alright, but not my favorite season. The beginning of Season 6 is good, but the later episodes are horrible.

It looks like UP TV removed Home Improvement for the time being due to their Christmas programming.

Laff had a Home Improvement marathon earlier today that consisted of a bunch of episodes that weren’t shown.

They were episodes that got skipped during the rotation, and there were a lot of episodes that were shown out of order.

For example, 'Twas The Blight Before Christmas was supposed to be shown on December 18 and it got shown on December 25 instead.

    great observation about jill

She does seem to be kind of an awful person to Tim. I am just watching this show again for the first time in over 20 years. A perfect example of the issue I take with her character is from season 1. Compare Tim's friend vs Jill's friend in back to back episodes:

Tim's Friend Stu - Episode 14 "For Whom the Belch Tolls"
Jill's Friend Karen - Episode 15 "Forever Jung"

Sure Stu is annoying and childish and is disrupting Jill's planned family night of forcing her 3 boys and husband to watch something they hate. She berates Tim and hates Stu and finally guilts Tim to not really want to see his friend anymore. Sure part of it was Tim wanted the family life more than the old life, but that was his decision to make. Stu likes Jill and is very complementary to her and her family and life and treats her very friendly and respectfully. and yet Jill can't stand him and sticks her nose up at Tim over their friendship.

Compare this with Karen (feminist). She is legitimately nasty to Tim, mocks him in front of his family, pits him and Jill against each other for her own amusement, ridicules Tim's entire view of masculinity, and Jill joins in with her in the mocking and belittling. She is an extremely rude person to Tim and Jill takes no issue with it and doesn't like that Tim does not want her around. In fact Stu is never seen again but Karen is a recurring character.
