What is the rule around here concerning the trade of OOP DCC and MFSL material? There are some titles out there that I know we would all like to have, but just cant afford to buy at 35 to 100 bucks or more each. Those of you that have extensive collections of Floyd, Clapton, Rush, McCartney, jazz titles etc could help others that are unable to find these titles at reasonable prices. If needed, contact me by PM.
    Thanks
    Rob

Rob, I think that's too much information.

I believe it's frowned upon here since it is how Steve makes his livelihood.
It's all in the member agreement.

I'd think trades of *original* discs would be OK, but trading or distributing copies would be a no-no.

I am only talking about OOP cds. After they have been purchased at retail and are no longer available at the retail point of sale, then the only people who stand to make any money are the guys running the local used cd palace, or the guys on ebay that want 150 bucks per copy. I am all for buying cds that are available at Best Buy etc, but when it is out of print, what is the problem?

Probably nothing wrong with it (per se)...but this is not a good place for the advertisment. After all Steve is in the record biz. :)

On a related note, I have a question about those of you who copy vinyl to cd. Would it be accepted to trade cdr copies of your records with others on the forum? If member xyz had The Beatles German Sgt. Pepper in stereo or the MMT German stereo version and they wanted to save it to their hard drive and no-noise/declick as they saw fit and then burn copies, would it still be considered forbidden? Since this is there own version, and different than any other copy, would it be ok? They could be given out as samples of said person's mastering skills. Anyway...

Best way: trade E-Mails with interested parties; do not discuss out in the forum any such things. Covers Steve and everyone else, too. Remember, in your profile section you can list an E address and keep it active so you can be E'd anytime. Some members insist on giving permission for their E's to be sent to another member. Never a problem with me; my E is always open:rolleyes:

    BL65,

As Ed has stated, all discussions regarding trading of music, of any type, in any format, for any reason are to be kept off-line. There are no exceptions!

    Thank you!

I asked about trading home remasters a couple of months ago, and the thread was removed, and when I checked, I was told this was not allowed, either. I assume it is still trading copyrighted material, and that's not allowed.

As always Jim, if you or any of your agents are caught, SH forum will disavow any knowledge of your mission. This thread will self destruct in 1 day.

Not bad, Jamie, but you missed the big chance I left you:

"My E is always open":D Out of context, that doesn't come out quite the way it went in....:D

I just thought E'd was the abbreviation for Edward.
