In an apartment situation these days, so a bit more moderate than in years bygone.

    No more "window-rattling" levels.

  2. On a scale of 1-11, about a 6. My wife and I are in a small apartment in DC (real estate prices being absolutely insane, and the only way to live inside the beltway close enough to walk to a Metro station, is to rent).

But even when we lived in a a free-standing house back in Kansas City, I still rarely had the volume cranked any higher than about 7 (out of 11).

I haven't ever been a really big "crank it!" guy - even back in college, and when I was single after college.

Right. Well said. 75 dB is good and plenty.

I might that hard to believe. At 64 years old you naturally have a certain amount of frequency loss from 8-12K.
Maybe your hearing is "perfect" up to 10K. Beyond that, I find that hard to swallow.

About 40% of maximum. Basically the same sweet spot I have always had which is about half-way between quarter and half volume.

And everything sounds better in this range. Even if something sounds good cranked, it sounds better at my normal listening volume.

Usually around 55-65dB. Moderate I suppose. Sometimes a bit louder.

What's the name of this app?

I would like to measure actual decibels.

I like between 70db and 80db, but I often listen in the 65db range as well as I am rarely alone nowadays.

How does one listen to music at 50db? That is the loudness of a quiet conversation.

It has a peak hold indicator, which I find indespensible.

depends on the day of the week and what time but i'd say 50% of the time i listen 'loud' which would be 101-103db spl peaks.

The alternative for me is to not listen at all, that's how.

I already know what happens to my ears when I play at louder levels.

Sometimes a track hits be right & I turn it up ... trust me when I say you can feel it!

Can’t take it for much more than the occasional track! The ears have some mileage on them...

Depends on the music, if it's a smooth ballad/love song, I keep it pretty mellow, but if it's rocking or some hard funk, I blast it!

It's 2018...of course there's an app for that.

My average is probably in the 70db range, btw.
