Same here. Not a die-hard, but have no interest. Still waiting on an official Hyde Park, though.

Yes, I really hope to see shows from 76/77 released officially. They seemed to be doing yearly archival live releases at one point, but that seemed to end with 'On Air'.

Twice. I took a half day from work on the release date to see the earliest screening I could and then went again - in IMAX - the following week.

As one of those who heard the complaints ("It whitewashes Freddie's life!" "It's not 100% accurate!") and was prepared to hate it--I saw it more out of morbid curiosity and because a friend was interested--I really, really enjoyed it. Yeah, you'll have to shut down the detail-oriented part of your brain, and the nerdy film major in me found some of the sequences unnecessary, lazy, and aesthetically unappealing (namely the list of cities scrolling across the screen while Queen was on tour) but I was entertained from start to finish. Only saw it once in theaters but I'll definitely watch it again when it hits Netflix.

One of Freddie's first dates with Jim Hutton was taking him to Live Aid. They then spent the rest of his days together.

I hope that you and your date have a happy ending like that

Watched a russian subtitled version online, and my $17.50 admission charge is going to be pro-rated towards a 2019 Queen + Adam Lambert ticket

In the UK cinema tickets are overpriced. Tickets in Hereford to see Fantastic Beasts today are £13.20. That's $16.76. That's two hours pay for a lot of the country.

Despite such heavy involvement from the band? Stubborness eh? ;)

Despite that involvement, there's enough historical inaccuracies to make one's head spin, as have been discussed already. It just doesn't work for someone like me.

It's only a film. Great actor, shame you won't give it the chance.

One of the worst, flat, lying, flawed, disgusting music biopics I have ever seen. Seen it once and will regret till my final days.

Brian was on the radio the other night chatting about it. How come you all hate it? He must really be effing you off if you think it's so flawed. I mean he and Roger were so involved I'd have thought it'd capture something that none outside of the band would ever have known or felt. There are always so many sides to the truth and it should never be allowed to get in the way of a good story.

I'll probably run into it on cable sometime, but I'm not looking for it. How often do the movies get anything right?

But I'm a cynic. It may well be better than most. Thumbs up to the folks who enjoyed it. :righton:

It is only a film, yes ok, but I think certain objective facts and certain sequences of their history had to be respected.
I agree that it is impossible to tell their story in two hours, and that it is normal to romance the truth in a film, but perhaps here they have exaggerated.
I saw it only once, I liked it, very good actors, I agree, I think it's a good movie, but I've never been a fan and I did not know many details of their story.
I can understand and agree with the disappointment and negative comments of some fans...

Films are important. For a lot of people, it will be their only exposure to Queen (outside of the hit songs heard on radio and TV). The idea that those people are walking away with false information about the band and Freddie bothers me quite frankly.

I feel that there was a great opportunity to do Freddie's story honestly and completely, and make it into a masterful biopic, but it doesn't seem that opportunity was taken.
