I always liked Yes's version of "America." Thanks for reminding me of it...

I believe Simon & Garfunkel were an influence on prog,
and not just because of Steve Howe’s acoustic work.

The middle of “Close To The Edge” reminds me of Simon & Garfunkel.

And I always think of the line “South California” from “Punky’s Dilemma”
when I hear the first lick of Peter Banks’ solo in “Astral Traveller” (sic).

Always felt Abbey Road was very progressive. I can imagine Pink Floyd listening to it.

I can imagine Pink Floyd listening to every note the beatles ever played. Because they said they did.

This may be the first time I've come to the defense of the Beatles ...maybe in my life! But, there is at least an ounce of truth to your comment @midniteinsanjuan

Sorry, I can't answer you. This is so old I don't remember why I said it.
    Maybe it wasn't me...

But, now that I was brought back to this thread, let me answer the OP:

    The Beatles were 13% prog.

    Ciao.

I was at that show. If I recall, it was an encore. They did a great job with it. Those Roosevelt Stadium concerts were great. The gates opened in the afternoon. Jon Anderson came out and played some acoustic stuff fr Tales. 1975 sounds about right.

Hard core progressive psychedelia. A forerunner.

Yep, I'm Down was a rockin' encore. I remember being amazed at the sight/sound of Jon screaming his lungs out. Didn't know he had it in him. And yep, acoustic Tales for a sound check. That show was broadcast live on WNEW-FM, which is why there's boots about.

You should have come over and introduced yourself. :p
