There was nothing definitive in that other post - just a blanket statement, and I don't recall there was any evidence to back that claim up, so please don't everybody go push the panic button if you bought from Amazon, Best Buy, etc. This is how rumors get started!!!

In my humble opinion, I doubt legit online retailers like Amazon are selling fakes. I'd be far more suspicious of 3rd party sellers on Amazon's site selling the box at a ridiculously low price. If the deal seems too good to be true, it probably is!

Mine definately does not look like that at all....no mis-spellings, and my Past Masters has two different flaps. No plastic inners, either. Unfortunately, I think you have the boot. Where did you buy yours from?

I found it hard to believe that they managed to completely mangle up Paul McCartney's name twice for the same album "side".

Either Chinese or someone trying to make it look like a Chinese pirate. These aren't bootlegs, they are copycats or pirates.

Pathetic attempt to duplicate. Piracy is more rampant than I realized.

I don't know how pirating works, but I'm shocked they couldn't just duplicate images of the originals instead of retyping all of this. And why wouldn't you check spelling as this is what makes it so obviously a fake???

  13. That is hilarious, they go to all the trouble of faking the box set but can't even spell the names right.

  14. On second thought they might just have a wicked sense of humor. ;)

It doesn't matter how much you say this, people here will panic and conjecture will rule.:shake:

It's very easy to avoid the fakes.

It's actually easier to re-set the type than it is to scan the originals and touch the resulting images up to look good. As for spell check, who knows what software and operator level is involved here? For half price (or better) merchandise, many people don't examine their goods that closely. It only has to pass a cursory check.

if the silver surface is tinted blue, the inner ring says CD-R, and the face reads "Memorex" right about the hand scrawled sharpie mark that says "Beatles"

And they're selling to a market that doesn't care. We've all seen other CDs and DVDs like this -it's nothing new, just because its a box doesn't mean it won't be faked. My son collected Japanese trading cards - tons of Chinese fakes of those and we always found the spelling and printing errors.

I love the "George Harrisun" mistake. I guess he wrote "Here Comes the Son."
