Don't forget Martha Vickers, either. Or Dorothy Malone. Or Peggy Knudson. Or Sonia Darrin. Or... Fine cast.
I could use a good airing of this one.. TCM. Been a year at least I believe since it's been shown. Good stuff
The other night I'm sittin' here watching Hill Street Blues, and something reminds me of Desperate Hours, so I pull it out. Love widescreen Bogie. Even though he died 22 months before I was born, it brings his presence a little bit closer.
* BOGART Bogie w/ Lizabeth Scott "DEAD RECKONING" (1947) is on tonight on TCM's "Noir Alley" Midnight /10AM Eastern
I will have to go look to see what I have Im sure I have a small 4 film Bogie box and a few of the classics in single dvds. If it wasnt so late I would stick one on now.
Here's a rare early Academy Award presented to Mary Astor. I had never seen this type/format of award before.. it states: "award of merit for outstanding achievement'' in recognition or her performance in "The Great Lie" (1941).
Humphrey Bogart ~ "The Caine Mutiny" .. Rare Soundtrack LP U.S. RCA Victor .. This very rare film soundtrack LP was a surprise to me. I had seen photos over the years, but had no idea of it's original release, and it's worth.. this LP has sold for as high as $5000. "Original Music and Dialogue" - "Including the entire court martial scene" that was where the troubles began.. apparently, full and complete approval was not authorized from the scene writer, long story short: a large part of the album was the 'entire court room' dialogue, which begat threats, legal problems, etc.. So, this is not only a Bogart/"Caine" rare collectible, but also a very rare film soundtrack LP. Coolness! Bogie has a really rare vinyl treasure to top it all off.. c., 1954.
I've always wanted one of those 1938 Plymouth's that he drove in The Big Sleep. They were so impractical, a gigantic car that seated 2.
My list, in order, based on my current whims: Casablanca (favorite move, period, and so my favorite Bogart movie) The Treasure of the Sierra Madre The African Queen The Caine Mutiny The Maltese Falcon The Big Sleep Key Largo High Sierra To Have and Have Not Dead End Dark Passage Sabrina The Petrified Forest I've never seen In a Lonely Place, looks like I need to rectify that.
Great list.. close to mine. I'd cut "Sabrina" (never a fave) for "In A Lonely Place". Man, are you gonna dig Lonely Place.. Nicholas Ray direction .
