Okay, I'm looking to shi+-can my Toshiba SD-9200 DVD-A player. It has started exhibiting the infamous "motorboat" transport noise problem and it is having problems with more and more new DVD-A discs, even with the latest Toshiba firmware. I used to think this player was boss and now I'm afraid it is a total loss. Time to write it off and move on... I'm having trouble finding a high-end player that has all the features I want. Perhaps youz guys can help? Here is the rundown of what I'm looking for: - Dedicated CD/DVD-V/DVD-A (no SACD capability, I have a dedicated SACD player already) - HDCD decoding capability - Balanced XLR stereo output - One button video circuitry defeat - 24/192 DAC with redbook CD up-sampling - Progressive scan component video out - User upgradeable firmware (would be nice, but no critical) The closest I've found is the McIntosh MVP851. Its biggest drawback for me is the lack of HDCD decoding (I've got a ton of HDCD discs). The only other thing it has going against it is the lack of a single button video circuit defeat (you can turn off the video, but you have to do it through the setup menu). Also, it does not offer user upgradeable firmware, but I can live without that. Any ideas? I'm starting to think I'm asking for too much...
