I have recently found two boxes of old newspaper clippings from music magazines so I thought it might be fun to turn this into a new game , also inspired by this hilarious and highly entertaining thread- feel free to join in (sorry for threadcrapping)
Do you recognize these artists ?

They all say "Court of the Crimson King" - released Oct 10 '69 - is the first progressive rock lp.

    WRONG!

It is Family "Music in a Doll's House" (released July 19 '68).

And here is more proof. Do you know who this is?

    Well done!
    Indeed you are correct.

    It IS Sammy D.

Year 1952. Waaay before "Court of the Crimson King".

From the all-instrumentak Sammy D. lp, " Prog on. Give your prog to somebody soon, right away. Right away."

First time the word "progressive" was on a lp jacket.

(Forget those stories about first time being on some venue poster or some media twerp in his music article.)

The shades, Rhodes and Mini point to the great Robin Lumley. I believe....

No idea about the bottom one. The top one is Stephen Fry.

On that 1978 pic, Smak's keyboardist Miki Petkovski really looks like Robin Lumley.
