Heck, if the future includes the invention of a time machine, one could potentially travel to ANY musical time period imaginable. If so, the challenge would be living long enough until it happens.

Keith Richards may be a good candidate, well after The Stones invent “Wheelchair Rock.” ;)

Back to the late 70s and 80s UK and Australia.
Mainly to see the band's I love, at their peak.
To see one of my favourite solo artists on stage, David Bowie naturally.
Of course buy up all the cds and lps!
Then bring them back to now

About a dozen years older so I could have seen the Beatles (if I were 13 on their last tour) and started seeing the Grateful Dead much earlier than 1980.

Assuming I'm 21 and not 57, the 50's for live jazz.

I would have liked to have seen many rock concerts/festivals that I missed from 1968 to 1980 so make me maybe 15 years older so I could have seen Jimi Hendrix, The Who, The Doors, Mountain, Allmans, Cream, Zeppelin and also all the acts from the 70's that I missed because I was too young to go to shows.

I think now is probably the best time, because you have access to everything that was recorded before now, and can also enjoy everything "live" that you saw in your life prior to now.

Picking a time like, say, 50 years ago means that even though you might be able to see certain favorites live that you couldn't now, then you can't hear anything made after whenever you went back to, because it didn't happen yet. I'll take all of the last 50 years of recordings over being there in the moment 50 years ago.

It must have been amazing to see all those 52nd street bands in small clubs like Bird & Diz and Miles in late 40's early 50's.

Brian Kelly 1964-73 rock's best decade

It would have been great to be born say 1952 so that one would be a kids when the Beatles and the whole British Invasion first got going and then a teen as the music got more inventive and progressive.
(I was born in 1958 so I was a bit young to fully appreciate it at the time, though 1964-73 remains my favorite musical decade!)

    For me, definitely today.

Since the purchasing of it and thus the capacity to appreciate it and celebrate it has never been better, easier or more diverse. :)

quite content to have been born in 1966, X-generation has been super for me

hearing the great 60s and 70s music growing up, not embracing the social hassles and fallout I watched adults go through
