It was tragic, but as with Charlie Parker there's a feeling that Bolan had peaked years ago and was only going to produce diminishing returns.

Hendrix's only documented OD was the one that killed him, and that was sleeping pills. He was a risk taker in life but not a junkie who regularly OD'd or an alcoholic in contrast to the others you picked.

Okay, I'm sorry, I'll be serious.

Marc Bolan & Eddie Cochran by far. Eddie was only getting better and better, and Marc was on the way back up after trying to find his muse for a few years. They both tragically passed in vehicle accidents. Made only a little more spooky as Eddie was one of Marc's main influences.

I feel like we only got to see a fraction of what they were capable of.

Yes, what Hendrix could have done if alive is mind boggling.

    I didn't say he wasn't.
You're citing a source I'm one of the main contributors to.
Yes he occassionally snorted heroin but he wasn't a junkie and never OD'd on it, as my arguments in the source that you quoted will tell you.;)

'Occasionally' is hard to document. Noel states that Hendrix was speed-ball snorting of his own accord after the Experience broke up - at least when Noel saw him again. I wouldn't doubt that by late-'69 thru his death in 1970, it was a regular part of JH's diet. A limousine junkie can hide it easier, especially if it's mixed in with whatever else they're taking. In other words, 'he wasn't just a junkie'.

What we have is a half dozen accounts from Jimi's friends and musicians that states he snorted heroin on a few occasions in 1970. Beyond that we don't know.

My point is really that Hendrix was a functioning, healthy individual in a very creative phase as a musician when he died. He was in good physical shape and no traces of H were found in his autopsy. That's quite a difference from Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin and Cobain.

And would Paul Rodgers then not have left Bad Company, got bored and released Cut Loose and teamed up with Brian May in Queen AND then Brian and Roger would have buried Queen with Freddie. Huh?

There is no other answer to this question. Lots of great talents have passed, but John was irreplaceable.
