My dad used to say that if you have live your life in a money wise manner your last dollar will be spent buying the last nail hammered into your coffin.

Heh... Firstly, that was a LONG way to go just to say 'It's not important' And, much more importantly, I had never seen that interview before, it must've been very shortly before his death. Man, so very sad to see someone who had such vitality suffering and near death at such an early age.

I don't know much about Frank Z but his answer is humbly telling and shows acceptance to (much of?) his predicament.
I will always respect him for this interview and these comments though I know little of his music!

 

What is so shocking and disturbing is that in life he was EXCEPTIONALLY confident and always had a very powerful, striking presence. And, to see him so dispirited and deflated, the stark contrast to me anyway was quite sobering and very sad...

 

So what about wives?

 

Wow that is one dedicated Bob Dylan fan. Kudos to that man.

I don't have a wife but my ex-gf said you have a lot of Miles Davis records when i was showing her my record collection threeyears ago, and in response i said because he is one of my favorite trumpet players.

 

For those who are unaware, Bill Pagel, the subject of the article, has been a prominent Dylan fan for many years. He runs the well known Bob Links website, which gathers together information about upcoming concerts, and provides setlists and reviews for gigs gone by. It has been a valuable resource since the dawn of the WWW.

Bob may have some quiet appreciation for effort but he feels (bobcats) people are wasting their lives by poring through Dylan minutiae at every turn!

 

I've always admired a lot of Frank's opinions, that one in particular. From what I have read online he's even buried in an unmarked grave. He had his faults (don't we all) but always struck me as a straight shooter, down to earth and about as un-rock n roll as a rock n roll musician could get (not shooting for Top 40 glory, leaving a legacy/museum, etc)

 

I do not have specific examples at the moment, but it seems to me that Dylan's folky, help the people early style would stand in direct opposition to people with money spending it on memorabilia. What if instead of turning those homes into museums (not sure if that is the plan, but I am guessing so) the owner actually let people (artists in residence) live in them, kind of like the Jack Kerouac house in Florida?
