Dylan when he was on the west coast once had someone going through his trash saving one of Jacob’s diapers

The people popular today are not necessarily the people who will be popular 100 years from now, and so on. There are lots of best selling authors from the Victorian era that are only remembered by experts. Van Gogh couldn't sell his paintings. I think Da Vinci was widely unknown until the Mona Lisa toured the U.S.

Collections of priceless artifacts like this always make me very nervous... sure hope nothing goes up in flames. It’s really neat but having all of it in the hands of one collector is very worrying.

the life span of authors seems to be much shorter than musicians. There are dozens if not hundreds of authors who sold a lot of books in the 1960s- 1990s who are basically unknown now. If you look at book prize winners and nominees from those years it’s a list of “who?”.

If you want to impress a beautiful girl, show her your great record collection and she'll think you're an interesting and attractive man and fall in love with you

    Ha!

No real Bob fan could possibly be unfamiliar with Bill already. At the very least from posting Bob's setlists forever.

I would imagine the archive would buy all that stuff. Not that Bill's probably selling it.

I don't collect anything. Not even autographs.

I think the Beatles will be able to stand on their own. Anybody hearing "All You Need Is Love" in a future century might be interested in what else they recorded. I shudder to think of a future where Beatles music doesn't affect anybody emotionally.

I realize that it wasn't the best comparison. I should've listed some classical composers who are quite obscure nowadays, maybe with the exception of record collectors.

The funny thing is, everyone I have ever introduced to Dylan's work.... they think he's lousy as far as a performer. The voice is usually the culprit. I think he's great sonically, but haven't been able to convince others. A museum dedicated to the guy would have to focus more on his written work than his sound, IMHO.
