You can tell there’s some around here who’s part of a paranoid cult where their music has to be worshiped and when someone dares to not bow at the alter of their music they’re agenda pushing and those people have to be put on ignore. Are you that insecure about people going against the cult? It has to be a giant circle jerk all the time?

Just listen to less music....then for me it is a treat and I appreciate it more. None of my family are big music fans so I don’t listen to much in the house ....and there is always something new to listen to....whether it is new or old

Fair enough. So there's a history.

Although that poster didn't reply to your post in this situation, it was the other way around. From my POV.

No, what I'm talking about has little to do with the music itself. The only thing I'm railing against is your insistence that everyone hold a certain opinion, speak a certain way, and if we don't get in line with your way of thinking, there's something wrong with us.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with having a low opinion of certain artists and expressing that opinion. As long as its done in a respectful manner. If you're a fan of Artist X, and I basically say that Artist X is horrible, its up to you if you take it as a personal slight. Not me. Or vice versa.

The people I put on ignore are the ones who insist I act or think a certain way, since you're so interested. I prefer not to go into specifics because that will probably just start another argument.

Bored by music, you poor sad thing.
    I can’t even imagine.

My 95 year old father still listens to Benny Goodman and Artie Shaw and still loves it.
Music will always speak to him ... and me.
Time for me to listen to “Astral Weeks” again ... ahhhhh, still beautiful.

Maybe take a break as some others have suggested or start digging a little deeper. A fellow Forum member recommended I give a listen to an artist I'd never heard before and I ended up really enjoying them. Check them out, they're called Alcatrazz and their first album No Parole From Rock 'N' Roll sits pretty well for me.

I'm pretty much listening to only older rock, 1965-80,, with a few favorite artists from 1980-2000. I'm still trying to keep up on the new jazz artists, and there are always new and interesting sounds.

Whether it's new music or old, it doesn't matter to me. As long as it's something I haven't played to death, I'm fine.

Next week I'm getting Spotify (I like to have bills come due on the first of the month if possible), and I'm looking forward to catching up on Rickie Lee Jones' catalog. Seems she's turned out quite a lot of insightful music since her debut album, which is the only one I paid attention to, so there's lots to explore there for starters.

Sounds like you need a vacation. Sometimes I take a break from music for a few days or weeks. When I return, my passion resumes. I also dedicate time to music discovery on the internet and on non commercial radio stations.

Shame about the mastering, but The Mars Volta released some impressive music.

Wrong. Being burned out on music from the past doesn’t mean they lost their faith in music. Faith in music doesn’t begin and end with music from the past.
