    Johnny? Burnette?
    :D
    Exactly though.
I listen to the album, it's recorded well, and John is amazing.
Some of the other acts do some amazing things too.
The failure I see, when the two worlds collide, there is not an amazing 'reaction'.
This album like others, are quite listenable, they are not 'bad' by any stretch.
I know I'm 'nitpicking', but I feel like a 'duet' situation should bring both parties together to
    produce a greater dynamic.
    But eh?
Guess I'm sick of everybody jumping on everybody else's coat tails ya know?

I do not actively avoid duets, but the fact that in my collection there is not one album of duets should tell you something.
I don't count acts like Simon and Garfunkel as a "duet".

Oh dear, I did say Johnny Burnette instead of Billy Burnette! Mel must be losing his mental faculties!

It would be interesting to hear mixes of each song containing only Fogerty's lead vocals minus the annoying duet partners. Lots of tasty guitar work on those versions.

Yeah, trying to avoid that 'tornado'.
I was gonna talk about the great dynamic between the likes of 'S&G' and go onto
talking about groups like 'Dr Hook'.
That's not what or where I wanted the topic to go in.

    Your OK Mr. Mel!
Your in great shape as always good Sir!

I think, especially in the case when more artists or DJ's are involved, it's a way to dress up a weak composition so that it will sell by the artists' association. More fanbases means increased interest.

The dictionary defines a vocal duet as a performance where both of the singers take parts of equal importance (as distinct from one singing lead and the other harmonising). That would include acts like Sonny & Cher, Nancy & Lee, the Indigo Girls and probably the Everly Brothers and Simon and Garfunkel.

However in the pop/rock world I think the use of the term is generally understood to mean a collaboration between two artists who normally perform separately. The duet may be a one-off, or there may be just one album. Acts like Sonny & Cher, the Everlys and S&G don't qualify because those were two-person acts long before either of the pair was a viable solo act. Nancy & Lee do qualify, even though they did several albums together, because each was a solo artist in their own right. The quintessential examples of duets are one-offs (or two-offs) like Diana Ross & Lionel Ritchie, Paul McCartney & Michael Jackson, or Jimmy Barnes & John Farnham.

That, at least, is how I understand the term.

I'd be curious to know if there were some unreleased songs (complete or unfinished) or if they began any new recordings at some point.

I totally get the contention that the modern duet formula for hit-making is a bit tiresome, but the duet has too long a tradition in pop music history.

From Marvin and Tammi, Otis and Carla to Frank and his daughter, the duet has its place.

What would have been really cool in the mid 1990s is a duet album with Mark Hollis and some UK rapper.

I hear what you're saying, there are many pointless duet recordings out there and it got old a long time ago. On the other hand, I think this is one of the finest things ever recorded: San Antonio Rose (album) - Wikipedia

I was just going to post the album as my number one defense for duet albums. So perfect it hurts.

If'n it's a country duet album you just know it's gonna have Willie Nelson on it, must be some kind of law in the US that prohibits not having Nelson involved. He's a great songwriter for sure but I just don't need him on everything.

Yeah I guess I'm kinda thinking of those duet albums with loads of guests, they always have WN, not that I'm against the guy, what a songwriter!
